Courtney's POV
I yawned, sitting up and looking around. It took me a few seconds to remember that we were out in the woods.
Steve was standing up a few feet away, putting his shoes back on.
"Goodmorning Steve." I greeted.
He turned around and smiled, "Goodmorning Courtney."
I stood up and brushed the dirt off, "I loved the 'getting used to being in nature' part of our trip, but if we ever get the chance again, I'd rather just sleep in the jet."
"Well, get used to this. It's going to happen a lot more than you like." He said.
I poked my cheek and gagged when I felt the dried blood. Ew.
"I don't think you're getting the point here, Steve." I huffed.
He shook his head, "Lets go."
We walked through the woods until we reached the area that Steve had left the jet and got inside. I sat down while he checked it for traps. He was so paranoid.
I yawned again and wiped my eyes as he came and sat down, my stomach rumbling.
And as anyone who has actually ate way too little, real stomach rumbles are very loud.
Steve looked over as he started the jet, "You hungry?"
I shrugged.
"After we've got everyone out of prison and gotten far enough away, I'll see if we can find a gas station." He said.
"A gas station?" I asked.
"You wouldn't know this, a lot of people don't, but gas stations have the best food. Trust me." He said.
"Alright. I'll give it a shot."
"Good. Because we're almost there and I didn't have much time to argue with you." He said.
"You have a plan?" I asked.
"Yes, but you won't like it." He said.
"I'll be good with however risky you need us to get." I told him.
"Actually it's not risky at all." He said.
"Perfect. So what's the plan?"
"I'm going to sneak in under disguise. This is a top secret facility, so they probably won't suspect anyone who acts like they're supposed to." He said.
"Ok, and what am I doing?"
"You stay here and guard the ship. If it gets discovered, we won't have a way to escape." He said.
I frowned, "The ship is camouflaged and it's storming outside."
"I know."
"So in conclusion, you go and rescue everyone, alone, and I get sidelined? Right?" I asked angrily.
"Courtney, you can't go inside. You're a kid, they'll know you don't belong." He said.
"Really? Because I was under the impression that I looked like an adult. So why can't I go?" I demanded.
He sighed, "You aren't healing anymore, if you get hurt, you could die."
"So could you!"
"It's not the same with me, I'm a super soldier, I'm stronger, and faster, and I can heal fast. I've been doing this for years."
I glared, "What have I done that tell you I can't handle myself?"
"If you couldn't heal so fast, you would have died multiple times already. And that's only during the time that I've known you." He explained.
