Steve's POV

I walked over as Courtney stood up from her crouching position and looked at me, the two kids hiding behind her back.

She glared at me furiously as I stopped in front of her, feeling extremely guilty for what I had to do. Of Courtney didn't cooperate, I would have to signal for Clint to shoot her with a tranquilizer.

"Why didn't you tell us that you were being hunted?" I asked.

"Well first, I didn't know, and two, I don't know or trust you, Spangles." She snapped.

"Just because you don't know us, doesn't mean you can't trust us. We only want to help you, and these kids." I explained.

"You aren't getting anywhere near these kids, or I'll break your face with a wall." She threatened.

"You said something similar to that before and now we're standing in the same room." I stated bluntly, "But either way, you obviously can't protect them from your enemies. You need help and we can give it to you."

She opened her mouth to reply, before hesitating.

I could see her thinking, but I knew she was leaning towards the 'break your face' option, so I decided to add a few things.

"Plus, we've delt with your enemies before. We know what to expect and we can help you get your memories back." I added.

"You failed to deal with them before." She accused.

"I crippled them. They're a secret organization with a thousand back up plans, it's doubtful that they'll ever be completely gone. If you want to help those boys, the best way to do it is to let us help you. They don't belong on the streets." I explained.

Courtney paused, narrowing her eyes before sighing. She turned around and crouched down to look at the boys.

"What do you want?"

"Courts, you know who he is right?" One of them asked.

The other facepalmed, "Duh, everyone knows Captain America."

The first kid frowned, "Well, sometimes Courtney is kimd of stupid. How was I supposed to know?"

"Hey, first of all, I'm awesome, and second of all, you guys haven't gave me an answer."

"Is that even a question?" The second kids asked, a 'you are stupid' look on his face.

"Don't make me throw you off a building, Damian." Courtney threatened.

"I'm sorry, what he meant to say is... Yes!" The first kid yelled before taking off and running over to me.

Courtney's eyes widened as she turned around and watched the tiny boy embrace my waist.

"You are the coolest!" He exclaimed.

"Show off." Damian grumbled as he walked over.

He crossed his arms and stared into my eyes, a scowl on his face.

"Yep." He decided before hugging me too.

"This is so cool!" The first kid shouted as he jumped yp and down, still hugging my waist.

"Calm down Jake. It's just the guy who ended World War I." Damian said.

"Actually, it was WWII, and he didn't end it, he just helped in the most famous way. The real hero is the old guy who made the super solider serum." Jake said, finally letting go of me.

I smiled down at them in amusement before looking up at Courtney, who just watched calmly. She met my eyes and made the tiniest of smiles.

"Are we all just going to ignore the dead guy over there?" Clint suddenly asked from a window across the room.
