Courtney's POV
I brushed my hair behind my ear and watch discreetly as the librarian walked over.
"I'm sorry to bother you miss, but I just wanted to warn you, the Academic Decathlon team is coming here to study soon, they tend to get a little loud." She said.
I nodded, "Thank you."
She smiled and walked off, returning to her place at the front.
I went back to reading the book about Captain America.
People really came up with some crazy stories about him. This stuff is hilarious!
I heard the bell ring and looked up, spotting a bunch of teens walking through. I recognized Ned. That kid is everywhere! I swear!
I shrugged and looked back at the book as they walked over and chose the table across from mine.
"Alright, let's get started. I'll do the quizzes today." Their teacher said.
I tuned them out and went back to reading.
"Captain America looked me in the eyes, his face covered in pain as the cold water began to fill our plane.
'Don't worry, Bob," He said, 'We will get through this.'
Then the water completely submerged us and I looked at his leg, trapped under a ton of debris.
'I will be back for you.' I mouthed to him, swimming away.
I swam through the hole in the roof and gasped, precious air filling my lungs once again.
'There he is! It's Bob!' I heard someone yell.
'Wait! We have to save Captain America! He's trapped underwater!' I told them.
But before we could go back to help, the brave hero bursted out the water, jumping over our heads as if he could fly.
He landed behind us, completely dry.
'Cap! We were so worried!' I exclaimed.
'Have no fear!' He said, pointing skyward, 'I will always persevere!"
I snorted. That line is so cheesy, Steve would never say that.
Then all I could think of was Steve doing some heroic pose and going, "Have no fear! I will always persevere!"
I laughed again at the sheer idiocy of it all and put my head on the book, silently wondering what Steve would think if he would read this.
"Watch out Parker, there are crazy hot girls in this library." Someone said.
I looked up and made eye contact immediately with a boy who had black hair and a cocky grin. He winked at me.
I have him the middle finger and went back to reading my book.
"Ha." Someone said in monotone, but still obviously amused.
"M.J. not funny." The teacher scolded her.
I could hear her shrug.
So I went back to reading, but that wouldn't last long, because Ned had other ideas.
"Hey I know that girl! Can she come over, I bet she knows a ton of stuff." Ned said.
"She just flipped Flash off." Their teacher argued.
"Yeah, well she doesn't go to school, so it's not actually against the rules." Ned defended.
"Fine."
