Courtney's POV
"So what's your name?" I asked.
He glared, "You don't know who you're messing with girl."
"I know, that's why I asked."
The driver turned around and looked at me.
"She's holding the blaster upside-down."
The bird man growled and jumped forward, swinging a metal pole at me.
I jumped back and-
Forgot I was in a van. I yelped and grabbed the roof before I fell on the road behind us. The bird man picked up a gun and pointed it at me.
It turned blue and the air warmed up, a sure sign that it was about to fire.
I pulled myself up and got on top of the van roof, crawling to the windshield.
I heard a thump behind me and turned around. Bird man was on the van too.
Hey, Sam might think it's cool that there was another guy with wings.
I mean, even though this guy is trying to kill me.
I scrambled forward and jumped onto the windshield, making the van swerve as the driver lost sight.
I yelped as a blast of energy flew past me.
"Woah man, calm down!" I shouted through the turbulent wind.
He repositioned the gun and shot, missing again as I swung out of the way.
I saw us go onto the sidewalk and towards a building.
My eyes widened and the bird man jumped off. I smashed open the driver's window and pulled him out. He screamed as the broken glass cut his skin.
The building was bright with lights, a store. People would be in there.
I swung through the window and landed in the seat, wincing at the glass. How hard could driving be?
I grabbed the wheel and turned it hard, slamming on the breaks at the same time.
The car sped up and I realized I must be pressing the speed thingy, gas, whatever, and I switched pedals as the van began to tilt.
"No no no! Come on you stupid-"
I cried out as the van hit the ground and started spinning on it's side, sparks flying by my head.
It finally stopped after a few suspenseful seconds and I sighed, ignoring the painful throbbing in my head that was slowly fading.
I climbed into the passenger seat and opened the door, getting out.
I looked at the store, which was still sitting there peacefully, if you ignored the people coming out to gawk at the crash.
Oh Steve is going to kill me.
Suddenly, someone grabbed my wrist and lifted me off the ground before flying away swiftly.
The first thing I thought was, bird man is back.
I looked up, resisting the urge to struggle, because I didn't want to go splat.
"Tony!?"
He looked down at me, his metal mask covering his expression.
He set me down on the roof and crossed his arm.
"You have some explaining to do." He said sternly.
"Uh, no!"
"Courtney. Last I saw you, we were at a truce. I just saved your life from being discovered by the military, and I'll probably have to go erase a bunch of videos people took of you. So lets get even, and you start talking." He said.
