M.J.'s POV
I don't get it.
"Trust me, Furious is just trying to help us out." Courtney assured me as she adjusted her wig, which was short, blonde, and straight as boards.
"He hijacked my field trip to bring you to some fire creature? Why not just send you by yourself- not that I don't want your company- like he did last time?" I asked.
"I dunno, Nicky Angry works in mysterious ways." She joked.
"Courtney. Not funny. Stop giving the super spy nicknames." I warned.
"Furious Furry Fury Furnace Fountain of Fire Face." She said immediately.
I sighed, "You're doomed."
She snorted quietly in amusement and turned around to grab her bag.
"So what are we going to tell my class?" I asked her.
"I'll come up with something." She shrugged.
I opened the door and we walked through.
"That's not very reassuring. You aren't the best lier." I told her.
She scoffed, "Says you."
"I am an excellent li..." I trailed off.
Mr. Harrington and seen us and was walking over quickly.
"M.J. I see you've made a friend." He said.
"Yes, this is... Cad...ie. Cadie Stevens." I lied, mentally grimacing about how horrible my lie was.
"Nice to meet you Ms. Stevens. Are you from around here?" He asked.
Courtney frowned, "You didn't get my dad's call?"
Mr. Harrington blinked, "Huh?"
"My dad called you and told you that I would be coming to stay with M.J. because..." Courtney started tearing up, "Well, my mom, she- she just died and- and M.J. is my only friend and- and-"
Mr. Harrington stopped her, "It's okay Cadie, you don't need to tell me. I'll leave you and M.J. to it." He said uncomfortably and walked away.
I looked at her in surprise as she wiped her eyes.
"Your lying could use some work." She stated with a smirk.
"I didn't realize you were so good at lying." I exclaimed.
"Yeah well, you learn a few things when you spend two years with a Russian spy." She smiled lightly before her eyes filled with honest pain and she looked down.
Don't correct me. Black Widow just came out, and the previous chapters stated that she was there for a majority of the two years.
I put a hand on her shoulder comfortingly and we walked towards the rest of my class. Flash looked over and grinned.
"Don't flick him off this time. We don't want him to remember you." I whispered.
Courtney sighed in disappointment.
Everyone looked over in surprise. Except Peter and Ned. They didn't look surprised at all, but Ned looked a little excited. I narrowed my eyes. Hmm.
"So who is the new hottie?" He asked.
"Your worst nightmare." She said darkly.
He chuckled nervously and looked around.
I busted out laughing and Courtney couldn't contain herself either.
