Courtney's POV

"Help! Somebody help!"

I jumped up from my stretching position and threw open the front door, racing down the stairs.

I ran outside and saw a familiar looking kid laying on the ground, panting.

I surveyed the area before running over and kneeing over him, looking for injuries.

"Are you okay? What happened?" I asked.

"These guys, they just came out and stole my wallet!" He said.

"Did they hurt you?" I asked.

"No, they just pushed me over and ran. I'm fine." He said.

"Oh. Well, that sucks." I told him sympathetically.

"Hey aren't you the girl from this morning? You ran into my friend Peter." He said.

"Oh, yes, I thought you looked familiar."

He chuckled nervously.

I narrowed my eyes. This whole thing seems awfully suspicious.

Suddenly, there was a blur of red and I took a few steps back as Spiderman swung over.

"Courtney. I can't say it's nice to see you again, what are you doing out here, attacking random civilians?" He asked.

"Oh no, she didn't attack me, in fact, she came running out here to help when I got mugged." Ned said.

"Huh." Spiderman said.

Everything was quiet for a moment.

"Ned, would you excuse us please?" I asked politely.

"Do I need to call the cops?" Ned asked.

"No!" Both of us exclaimed simultaneously.

I looked at Spiderman, surprised. Why wasn't he trying to call the police? Was Steve really that right about him when he told me that Spiderman was too inexperienced to call for backup?

"Ok." Ned said, running away.

"So what are you doing in Queens?" Spiderman asked.

"Just passing by. I'm on my way somewhere else. Don't worry, I'll be gone when you wake up in the morning." I said.

"You don't have to." He blurted out.

"Why?"

"Well, Mr. Stark told me you didn't deserve to go to prison and to help anyone if they pass through, so if you ever need help, I'll be here." He said.

I narrowed my eyes at him, "How do I know I can trust you?"

"Well, Ironman and the military aren't here." He said.

"For now."

He held out a piece of paper.

"What's this?" I asked, taking it.

"My phone number. Let me know if you need anything. We're on the same side now." He said before taking a few steps back and then shooting a web away.

I looked after him until he disappeared on the horizon.

"Okay then Spiderman."
