Steve's POV

I watched silently as Courtney sat in her seat, a aura of fear around her. I couldn't understand why she had always been so hesitant to go back to Wakanda. To see Damian and Jake again.

Maybe it was the fact that they might be robotic spies, or maybe she was just afraid of what they would think of her.

Over the two years since we last saw them, Courtney has had numerous occasions where she breaks down of guilt. Thinking about what a terrible person she is for leaving them.

However, every time I suggest we go back and visit them, she refuses, terrified.

Damian and Jake were so innocent, so loving towards her. I couldn't imagine them possibly acting against her, or hating her for what she did.

And I know she misses them. Most nights Courtney falls asleep, plagued by nightmares. She used to wake up in the middle of the night and find me, telling me about them and crying.

Eventually, I just started sleeping in the same room. She would talk in her sleep, yell, cry, and her nightmares weren't always about them, but there was a solid chunk of them about the two boys.

I was proud of how Courtney had grown. She was braver, more determined. A peacekeeper amongst us when the tension of our divided views finally broke, Courtney would be the one to smother the flames. To keep us together.

She had also become quite skilled with blades. I sparred with her for a while, she used knives, but I couldn't help her improve much with those, I never used knives.

But when Natasha came back, she started teachinh Courtney. The two of them actually became good friends and eventually, Natasha introduced her to swords.

Courtney's had two knives. One was curves and medium length, while the other was flat and short, more of a throwing knife.

Natasha gave her a sword, it wasn't very long and it was easy to hide with a shealth that started just behind Courtney's shoulder and ended at her thigh. You could only see the hilt if you looked closely at the back of her shirt, where it barely stuck out.

"You better be right about this," Sam told me, breaking me out of my thiughts, "or we are going to land a lot faster than you want us to."

I watched as we sped towards trees much faster then any sane person would, but as I had hoped, they disappeared and we went through Wakanda's barrier.

Sam landed us at the designated spot and we got out, immediately spotting T'challa and his guard.

Jake and Damian were not with them and I saw Courtney visibly relax out of the corner of my eye.

"Captain Rogers. It is a pleasure to see you again." He greeted.

I nodded, "Likewise."

"Should we proceed?" He asked, "I believe you said it was urgent."

"Indeed."

We followed him to the palace and began to explain the situation.

"How many enemies are we expecting?" T'challa asked.

"An army." Banner told him.

"So how many do you have?" Natasha asked.

"My kingsguard, the border tribe, the Madoramaroja (author spelling failure), and-"

"A semi-stabel, 100 year old man." Bucky said as he walked over.

I smiled and gave him a short hug, then he gave Courtney a fist bump and they smiled happily.
