The next morning, I did wake up early, earlier then anyone else in this penthouse. The clock beside my bed displayed the time confirming what I already knew.
5:47 AM
Rolling over I mumbled a complaint into my pillow before reminding myself I couldn't be a lazy fuck and forced myself from my bed. Walking into the bathroom I got into the grey marble shower, and began to go through the motions I'd halfway conditioned myself to do without thinking. Self reliance had become my greatest asset over the past few years, and it hadn't failed me yet.
Getting out after ten minutes, I dried off and walked into the closet which was filled with all of my recently purchased clothing. Choosing black trousers, and a stiff collared dress shirt, no tie, I got dressed, along with taking the black blazer I had to wear or else my father would probably die of shame if I wore something casual.
Appealing idea as it may be, I wouldn't let all these years of wearing a uniform go to waste.
To finish off my preparation I did my hair how I liked it, and walked out of the room towards the kitchen where my mom was cooking both me and Kate breakfast.
My sister went to a different school then me, though at some point she would probably be transferred to Thornbrook.
"Good morning, Adri," my mom greets spotting me as I entered the room, following the smell of nutmeg, and cinnamon to the counter.
"Good morning mon mere".
I know that means my mother and doesn't really make sense but its a habit.
"Here's your plate," she says handing me a plate of French Toast all five pieces were however quickly doused in maple syrup, before I all but dove into my food.
"Adrian you're going to give yourself diabetes," my mom says noticing the plate I was carrying into the breakfast nook.
"I'll work it off later," I say dismissing the concern, I hated being babied, it was absolutely my least favourite thing quickly followed by stupid people.
Sitting down at the corner of the table I ate slowly, finding myself at least a little bit happy seeing that my mom and sister were at the very least happy. When I finished, I walked away towards the elevator where Andrews was already waiting.
"Come on Katelyn," I call out over my shoulder to my sister as I knelt down to tie my shoes.
"My name is Kate," my sister proclaims from the dining room. "And your bites are the size of Asia".
"Don't bicker you two," our mom scolds from the kitchen.
"Sorry mom," Kate says, though I just gave an apologetic look, I'm more about action then words. Words can be said through gritted teeth, falsified and manipulated to give someone what they want, words were for leverage. Actions were straight forward and often not misconstrued.
Andrews then picked out the key for the car he would take me and Kate to school in, and pressed the summon button for the elevator, which began it's slow ascent as Kate joined us in the foyer.
"Adri," she hummed as she picked out what shoes she'd wear to school.
"Katelyn," I reply in verb, smirking as she pulled on her shoes and stood just in time for the elevator door to open. Stepping into the elevator we were carried down to the lobby where Andrews told us to wait for him to bring the car out front.
"So, what do you think Thornbrook will be like?" she asks glancing over at me.
A fucking conundrum of ego, parties, and rich kids.
