Later that day Paris, Angela, and I all stood in art listening to Coleman Hell painting two hands linked together with multi colours to show shape and angle.
"It looks like some type of symbolic expression," Angela comments while carefully putting the final brush strokes across the canvas.
"You're always looking for meaning," I muse with a short laugh as I watched her only a few inches from the painting working to not so much as twitch.
"All art has meaning," our art teacher Mrs. Cohen says looking over our shoulders which was mildly unsettling but I just disliked it when people hovered over me.
Felt like I was being forced to do things.
"This one is just for fun," I say moving to stand beside the picture.
"Do you girls mind if I hang it on the wall?" she asks looking between the three of us.
"Not at all go for it," Angela beams and I just smile before lifting the painting off its stand and carry it over to the drying area.
"Can we talk about your relationship with Demetri how is he treating you, it better be like your the only girl in his life," Angela says.
"Better be," Paris says, "I have hiding places mapped out."
Angela and I then give her questioning looks, which wasn't exactly uncommon considering she said her share of things that made us worry.
"They are in reserve, just in case," she defends.
"Our friend is a psychopath," I mutter with an amused laugh.
"Our friend is Latina," Angela says, sighing and giving Paris a look like she was debating if she would need to watch her more carefully
I then just shrug and go to clean my hands of paint that had been smeared across both of them since I had been using them to blend some of the paint into the shapes, we wanted them in.
As I finished washing my hands I then walked back over to our table where both my friends sat expectantly.
"Why are you two staring at me so intently?".
"You know why, how is Demetri treating you Olivia?"
"He treats me good; we're still getting things all figured out but for the most part everything is good," I reply, but they didn't so much as blink away any part of the suspicion on their faces.
My friends didn't always trust Demetri, though I understood them not wanting me to be used or become just some game to him, someone who was to be used which people have been in this school before, it was just the way it was. I also had some bad experiences with people wishing to get close to me just to get things from me, and every time I resisted but that was some of the only appreciation I had gotten early in High School, these two had my back through it all and were part of the reason I was recovering in the first place.
"If he ever doesn't treat you how you think you should be treated just tell us and we will sort him out," Angela says, "maybe Paris will get to use those hiding places for people she dislikes," she adds looking over at our friend.
I scoffed and just shook my head before pulling out a piece of paper to start a three-way game of ex's and oh's, which Angela won against Paris soon followed by me winning against her then in a near draw I beat Angela.
"Damn it," she muttered eying me with a false glare.
"I am the best," I teasingly proclaim, and she just laughs at me.
"Yes definitely," Paris rolls her eyes and I just give her a side eye look before flicking water at her which splattered over her face and shirt.
"That's fucking cold," she gasps staring at her with a wide mouthed expression, which made me started laughing even as I crossed the room leaving the two of them to continue bantering with one another.
