It was just another night as I drove out towards Rye, my hoodie discarded carelessly onto the passenger seat of the 964 Turbo I was easing along the roads towards Sav's family home, a CD from the leather bound folder I kept behind my seat playing early 2010's R&B as I shifted from fourth to fifth rounding the corner at speeds that the nimble little car seemed all too happy to comply with.

Pulling around the corner of her street I slowed to a near stop to roll through the gates and down past everyone else's vehicles cramming the driveway before parking in a spot with an easy exit. Shoving the door open I pulled myself out of the vehicle stretching slightly as I locked it and pocketed the keys, one of the many leather jackets I owned hanging over my arm as I crossed the driveway towards the steps leading up to the front door that was cracked open while music, and dancing lights bled from the space.

Fuck sake.

Honestly how anyone found enjoyment from these shit parties was beyond me, I'd walk through this door and see the same bullshit, twenty odd bottles that would be empty in an hour, solo cups on the floor, and likely some packet of blow abandoned in a powder room half racked and forgotten about by some idiot and his friends.

Pushing the door open and slipping in I resisted glowering at the pair of girls behind the door even if I could admit they were pretty, though the skin tight dresses that barely covered their asses was a bit excessive.

Had it never occurred to any of them that there are photographs of them partaking in this farce.

"Adrian!" I hear over the crowd and as expected I spotted Monica pushing her way through the crowd in some party outfit I'd yet to see. Heeled boots, a plaid flared knee skirt, biker jacket, and bralette, that as usual hadn't deviated from her palette of black and maroon. The worst part was it would probably all end up on the floor of some bedroom upstairs after she seduced yet another poor soul who fell into her tricks.

"Monica, what do you want?" I ask putting myself through the motions of reaching out towards her and hooking her by the pocket of her jacket to pull her closer to me. "And we both know you want something."

She smiles up at me grazing her teeth along her bottom lip as she stared up through the foot between us. Her hands pressing against my chest, and I didn't miss the lapse in her control as she seemed to restrain herself from exploring me, not that it would matter, I didn't belong to anyone, and even if I wasn't an uncommon visitor to the upstairs bedroom, I wasn't willing to do jack shit with any of the girls here. I might have been a piece of shit that could pick any girl here and probably get anything out of her, but I wasn't taking that same soulless exchange based on lust and nothing else.

Maybe I had my foolish sentiments.

"You hate these parties, so why are you here, sure there isn't something keeping you here," she says, dragging a lone finger down my torso in a serpentine motion. "Or someone," her eyes hazed over, and maybe I shouldn't entertain her, but Monica was also one of my repeat exchanges.

"If you look too deep you'll drown Monica, don't bother," I say before wrapping my hand around her wrist and guided it back down to her side. "Now turn around, and go upstairs," I found myself ordering and as I expected she turned and walked away her finger wrapping around mine before I followed a step behind her even as I scanned the pointless mix of rich snobbish children who wouldn't even know what to do if their parents suddenly cancelled their Amex if they found them using it to cut lines or were drunk driving again.

Lord knows what my parents would have to say if they saw what I did with my money.

Or if they saw me here in the wolfs den of high society, and poor choices, constantly surrounded by forced smiles, back stabbing, and people I would rather watch their lives burn down around them like the weed they smoked at parties, or be as jarring as the first time they'd ever done a line of cocaine, a small bag of which I knew was downstairs.
