Chapter 5- the change

Atsushi sat at his desk in the office completing more of Dazai's work. Only a few days ago was he and Akutagawa attacked by an unknown person. After tracking the van down and breaking through the wall he managed to find his friend on the floor of the abandoned hospital. Akutagawa looked weak and tired but Atsushi didn't dare mention that knowing it would hurt his friend more to be seen as vulnerable. Instead he just smiled at him and helped carry him out and escape. Once they got back to the busy streets of Yokohama, Akutagawa begged Atsushi to not tell anyone of what he saw and if anyone asked tell them about the figure but not that he was kidnapped. Atsushi reluctantly promised but only if he was allowed to tell Gin since he believed Akutagawa's sister ought to know. After a brief few seconds of contemplation Akutagawa agreed knowing Atsushi wouldn't settle without his condition. Atsushi dropped Akutagawa off at his apartment making Gin aware of the situation then went to deal with the agency members since he knew they'd be wondering what happened since he called. As promised he only revealed that someone attacked them and that he believed their hideout to be the abandoned hospital not mentioning anything about the kidnapping. That had all been three days ago and, besides a thank you card, he hadn't heard from Akutagawa since. 

Tireslly, Atsushi completed his mentor's work getting increasingly annoyed at himself with each piece for letting Dazai dump it all on him. As he finished the last paragraph he noticed someone through the window. Outside the building a particular civilian had caught his eyes but this wasn't any old civilian it was one of the strongest members in the black lizard, a group of people in the Port Mafia. Outside the building pacing in front of the entrance in their civilian attire was Gin Akutagawa. The presence of his friends sister deeply worried him so he wanted to check the reason for her visit. Atsushi looked up from his desk to check if there was a Kunikida in sight but fortunately the coast was clear meaning he could go talk to to Gin.

He ran out the doors and down the stairs to greet the girl before she decided to back out and go home. He opened the building's double doors to come face to face with Gin, who froze the minute she saw Atsushi. Gin stood there in a pretty yellow dress that sparkled in the sunlight; her black hair lied gracefully against her shoulders swaying with the wind. Gin was an angel in the busy city and that was something anyone who saw her in this attire agreed. After mesmerising Atsushi with her looks, a rare sight he barely saw, she composed herself from her previous frozen state and got down to business.

"I need your help Atsushi with Ryu" she started, something Atsushi didn't want to hear.

"Explain" Atsushi urged,

"Ryu won't talk to me about what happened which is usual since he's use to taking of me so he's never wanted to talk about his problems with me but every night he keeps waking up screaming and after missions he's in more pain than normal. I want to help but he won't let me, he'll listen to you so can you talk to him?" She pleaded,

"of course, Where is he?"

"It's his day off so probably training. He usually trains in a particular place. I'll take you there, lets go" Gin proposed before grabbing Atsushi's arm and dragging him as she ran to the location.

After about 10 minutes of running the reached a back alley that led into Port Mafia territory. They stopped here before going any further in order for Gin to change into her Mafia clothes because at work she wished to remain seen as the dangerous person she definitely was. Atsushi faced the wall patiently giving Gin the much needed privacy as she changed. He nervously waited feeling a sense of unease creep up his back as he was going into Mafia territory without an invite. He tried to reassure himself that the truce would protect him but he knew when Mori made a threat he'd follow it through so Atsushi had put his faith in Gin hoping her presence would allow him to enter with ease.
