It was one of those nights where Wonwoo's mind wandered. Ever since the realisation hit him two years ago, Wonwoo could never shut the idea of Mingyu out of his mind. He always came back in bursts of vividly coloured memory, illuminating Wonwoo's head with a flash of yellow or pink or the white dazzle he remembered Mingyu's smile held.

He lay in bed, curled up under the sheets in thick darkness. He felt such a heavy weight on him and he didn't know if it was because of the duvet or his chest tightening. Off his head went into exploring his past relationship with Mingyu again.

"Hi! I'm Kim Mingyu from 9-2. What's your name?" Wonwoo looked disapprovingly at this child radiating pure hyperactive energy. "Jeon Wonwoo. Are you lost or something?"

How was he supposed to know the future?

What started as best friends who never left each other's side, ended up with lots of scars, hot tears and hoarse voices. Wonwoo can still hear the doors slamming, could basically see the decibel of Mingyu's voice grow higher and he could feel himself sinking into the floor like it was quicksand. All like it was yesterday.

But it wasn't yesterday. It was two years ago.

Wonwoo realised that starting as best friends not only meant they knew each other so well, but that they knew too much about each other. And Mingyu knew his weaknesses, what made him cry, what made him scared and anxious. Wonwoo felt helpless against him because he wasn't as observant as Mingyu.

The image of this kind, sweet and awkward mess of a boy was now tainted with overlays of purple-blue flowers blooming on his skin, red patches of blush forming all over him, even the occasional drop of red rain that clung to the surface of his skin like morning dew. Wonwoo remembered all.

But that was two years ago.

A long and hard process brought Wonwoo to where he was at now. Instead of being traumatised and constantly thinking and worrying about Mingyu, now he only trips down the spiral a few times a month.

"It's improvement," His now roommate and friend, Minghao, had complimented.

Wonwoo found a lot of time to think at night, when Minghao would head out all dressed up in fancy and glitter. Wonwoo was just glad he was a deep sleeper.

He started to think about his best friend Kim Mingyu.

Since high school, the two have stayed side by side, helping each other weave through the wall of judgemental teens and get out the end of high school with their hands still linked together. Smiling as they had headed into college, they had remained in contact. After some rounds of visiting during holidays, Mingyu asked Wonwoo out.

The rest is history.

Ding dong!

Wonwoo was snapped out of his thoughts. Who was that? At this time of night? He felt his legs become jelly. Minghao wasn't scheduled to bring someone back in another two hours. Pocketing a box cutter in his hand, he checked the spy hole and stuttered backwards.

Ding dong!

"I know it's you, Mingyu. What do you want?" Wonwoo spoke through the door. He saw Mingyu jump and his jaw hardened in slow rising anger. "Hi hyung. Please let me in, I... I want to talk."
