"bye bye!" jihoon calls, finally wrapping up the live. in all honesty, he wants to just go back to the dorms to sleep. but something is keeping him here at universe factory. not like he has pressing work to do...

just then, his phone rings. it's soonyoung.

"yeah?"

"happy birthday, baby."

the pet name throws jihoon only slightly off. it's not that soonyoung doesn't call him that, it's that he only does on rare occasions. jihoon supposes his birthday counts.

"e-eh? why didn't you call when i was on vlive?" jihoon chuckles.

soonyoung sighs down the phone, "dunno. didn't feel right. now it does. happy birthday. thank you for being born."

jihoon cringes a little, "don't use my song against me. you saw how it went when that carat did it." they laugh and let some silence slip by.

"you know how much i miss you?" soonyoung asks quietly. jihoon can just about hear the other biting his lip in nervousness, "it's been less than a day, soonie. how can you miss me?"

"i just do. will you come home? or should i tell you everything over the phone like this?"

now, jihoon would use this as a reason to go home. but he stays rooted in the studio, "tell me, soonie."

"if you say so,"

jihoon's a little scared.

"i miss your presence and how you completely fill my vision with your tiny self. i miss your warm voice, even if i caught some of it in the vlive. i miss your smiles and laughter even if i saw them in your live. i miss your whole damn being, ji. i miss you being next to me. so please come home..."

soonyoung sounds so desperate and it clicks something in jihoon.

"...what do you want to do?" he asks breathily.

"i'd want to hug you so tight; feel all of you against me- i miss you so much- and if you let me, i'd like to kiss you once. maybe. 25th birthday present, am i right?" jihoon can almost see the embarrassment creep its way up soonyoung's neck.

"s-stay still, soonie. i'm coming."

jihoon clicks the red button to end the call. rushing back to the dorms, he throws open the door, scaring seungkwan who's come for a snack.

he quickly acknowledges the 'happy birthday hyung!' thrown at him before metaphorically breaking soonyoung's door down. the boy inside jumps, sinking further into the blankets.

"my jihoonie..." soonyoung says, voice breathy. he holds hands out to receive jihoon and he rushes into his embrace. soonyoung's fingers card through blond hair as he hugs jihoon so tight against him. just like he promised...

jihoon sinks into this feeling and closes his eyes. soonyoung around him, hugging him close, feeling his strong arms bypass the hoodie he has on to fit nicely in the curves of whatever waist he has... it's bliss, truly.

his head sinks in the space between soonyoung's shoulder and neck. absentmindedly, he rubs his squished cheek into soonyoung while adjusting his position.

jihoon feels sleepy all of a sudden.

"you know i love you, ji?" in his tired state, he can only hum. soonyoung smiles to himself, "really... thank you for being born. for giving me smiles everyday. you're my one and only, jihoon. and i hope you feel the same way..." he then sighs, "i can only hope." when did this get depressing all of a sudden?

"but i love you."

is all jihoon chooses to say. but he's sure all his thoughts are translated perfectly by the way he lets soonyoung cuddle him, kiss him and love him all over in the minutes to come.
