"do you have the water gun?"

jihoon had been left alone again. it wouldn't have been half as bad if he wasn't in the mood to play. yet soonyoung wasn't around to play with him. there was only a few places soonyoung could be at. thank god he was a man of habit.

and so jihoon had found him outside a convenience store, smoking it up with one of his night buddies, boo seungkwan.

"are you serious?" jihoon had said, anger slowly rising. "how many times do i have to tell you to stop?!" he whacked soonyoung's hand so the half-gone cigarette hit the floor. soonyoung looked on in open-mouthed shock.

"that costed money, jihoon."

"and it'll cost your fucking life one day!"

jihoon huffed, bits of regret seeping into his bones. soonyoung sighed, "what are you doing here, ji?"

"looking for you, of course." soonyoung prodded.

"because i missed you. and i wanted to play a round."

soonyoung's ears perked up, "a round, you say?" their background melted away. it was just them, and this plastic table and chair soonyoung sat on. "do you have the water gun?"

"i don't know," soonyoung squinted, "what do you mean you don't know? do you? or not?"

"i don't know." jihoon repeated, sly smile only barely visible under the shady white lights and dark night. seungkwan stared, incredibly confused. soonyoung groaned and stood up.

"lee jihoon-"
"kwon soonyoung."

jihoon smiled, not a shred of genuine happiness in it. rather, he felt a little bit crazy, a little bit sadistic... and a little bit on fire.

"for the last time. do you have the water gun?"

jihoon sighed, "you have to find out."

suddenly they were whisked into a taxi, jihoon not even getting the time to acknowledge seungkwan, nor soonyoung getting time to say his goodbyes. it was all too fast.

some silence passed in the taxi until soonyoung asked again. "give me an answer. yes, or no."

jihoon fiddled with his fingers, "yes, i do have it. it's at home." soonyoung melted into the seat, relief washing over him. "you're hard to get through-"

"but i want to pull the trigger."

they locked eyes. "you want to pull the trigger." soonyoung asked, sounding more like a statement. he almost laughed, and jihoon saw it. "you can't pull the trigger on me."

"why not? just because i'm unassuming doesn't mean i can't hold the gun. and you've never been shot before," jihoon ranted. "i think it's a win-win." he mused.

soonyoung scoffed, shaking his head as he looked out into the dark night. "you're not pulling the trigger on me."

"so you don't want to be shot? not even once?"

now this made soonyoung go quiet. images started filling his head, his ears started to hear noises his own mind was conjuring up. when he looked over at jihoon, he felt terrified. his boyfriend looked so intimidating all of a sudden. he was like a different person. he gulped.

"...not never. just not today."

jihoon hummed, then thanked the driver as they got out in front of their apartment building. "alright. may the king get his wishes granted. but just know, soonie," jihoon blocked the entrance and soonyoung's card from scanning on the door.

a cool breeze tousled their hair, the smoke soonyoung once carried in his hand now in his hair.

"i think you'd be such a good brat."

with that, jihoon let the card scan and walked through the glass doors himself, smirking in the silence that soonyoung couldn't break.
