wonwoo felt his whole world die out. wednesdays were never the same again. he counted the number of plastic and glass bottles sitting around his house and doubled it. that was how many days it had been since minghao walked out that door, off to some other adventure he'd never return from. wonwoo should've held on to him tighter.

stepping out from his rank apartment after the first week blinded him. the sunlight felt artificial when artificial became his reality. regardless, the whole world seemed to have blinded him and tricked him into seeing greys. what a splendid april fools' joke! he almost asked the convenience store cashier if she was seeing greyscale too, but she already looked scared enough by his mere presence.

why minghao disappeared was mystery still to wonwoo, sitting now six weeks into isolation. often times, he'd burst out into a painful laugh; minghao was always such a mystery.

but wonwoo loved him anyway.

six weeks and some days invited their friends over to check on wonwoo. apparently he hadn't been online or contactable for all that time. he chuckled when concern seeped through their voices, "you don't care for me." when soonyoung nervously told him they did, he grew angry. "then you would've stopped him from fucking leaving!" soonyoung and jihoon left shaking, with their arms around each other. wonwoo sobbed when the door beeped shut. he fell over sitting on the couch and curled up, heavy and weakened sobs wringing themselves from his already-thin body. his stomach hurt, his eyes hurt, his cheeks hurt and wonwoo just wanted to go to sleep forever.

he just wanted minghao back.

eight weeks brought a call that wonwoo miraculously picked up. swaddled in blankets, he pressed the green button without hesitation.

"hello, my love,"

wonwoo was plunged back into colour. suddenly everything bloomed back to life, simply by hearing his minghao's voice. he never thought that one day his tears would be from pure happiness and relief, but here he was. minghao chuckled upon hearing wonwoo repeatedly whisper "oh my god"s down the phone, still obviously processing what has just happened.

"where did you go?"

minghao hummed, looking around his current place of residence, "it's not important..." he tapped nervously on the wooden table he sat at. "i miss you."

wonwoo crumpled into exasperated tears again, "i-i miss you too! i miss you so much- eight weeks, hao... i've been stuck in the same cycle for eight god damn weeks. where the hell are you?" he gripped his blankets 'til they imprinted creases. "and when the hell will you come back to me?"

minghao had no answer for him and wonwoo felt even more hurt than simply not having received the call.

"i can't tell you everything, won. but..." wonwoo heard minghao sigh down the phone in the same way he did when he had something difficult to say. so his eyebrows furrowed in anticipation and worry.

"but if today were my last day," minghao's voice wobbled as he exhaled, "baby, just know i'd cross oceans and mountains to hold you one last time."

a tear slipped down wonwoo's cheek, the blankets falling off his shoulders. "what... what's that supposed to mean?" he whispered. "what are you talking about?"

no answer. "hao? minghao?"

minghao's sniffle crackled through the phone. "oh god- minghao please! please tell me you're okay? w-where the fuck are you?!"

wonwoo's heart was drumming heavy in his ears not hearing responses from minghao. on the other end of the line, minghao held a hand to his mouth and sobbed as silently as he could.

"please come home..."

"my sweet darling... i wish i could."
