The day ended with you having not conversed at all with Hunter ever since the shitshow he pulled - not like you spoke with him outside of math and project work over at his house, but whatever - and now you'd reached his street not even realising the habit of you walking to his house.

It was honestly kind of alarming, when you realised you didn't know where you were, and somehow, you were here now.

Did Hunter even care that you weren't trying to speak to him? He seemed just as unphased at his words and at your reaction.

On cue, your phone buzzes in your pocket, and you immediately recognise the name.

Hunter The Textbook Workaholic: Hye youtr lagr

Typos and all - you couldn't even really blame him. It's just something you'd accepted in his text vocabulary.

I am. Because I'm not going over. :You

Hunter The Textbook Workaholic: tgen ehy dif yoi rske rhe sane roas as mw

Aha, he had caught you there.

Force of habit :You

Hunter The Textbook Workaholic: tgen hurru uo

You knew deep down, even if you didn't show up, Hunter probably wouldn't care. He had never given a reason for you to be there, and you didn't even do anything for the project anyway. It wasn't even like your teacher followed you both home and everything - they'd never know if you went to his house or not.

Your phone times out, but the buzzer keeps going as you're bombarded with more messages from Hunter, probably. Did it even matter? If you went?

'This is a mistake,' your gut tells you. 'Just turn around and go home.'

If only you weren't an intuitive type, you could've walked away and went home. You maybe could consider the logic behind your decisions and realise there was none when your legs took you to Hunter's front gate.

You rang the bell.

Hunter shows up, clicking the remote in his hands and the gate opens with a little creak in its way. He looks just as unbothered ass ever, as uncaring as ever when it came to things like these.

"Took you long enough," he scoffs, like he doesn't even know you're upset. "C'mon in. I'm almost done with the project."

"Got distracted," you half-lie. "Was thinking about what you said in math."

"What?" Hunter asks. "What did I say?"

He makes a face as you catch up next to him, and mouths an 'ooohhh' sound. "You mean, about your friends not liking you? You're still on about that?"

"Yes?" It's quite difficult to stay surprised at this point. You continue anyway. "You literally talked shit of my friends right in front of me? Of course I'm upset."

Many things surprise you, and Hunter bursting out laughing did as well.

"Wow, yeesh, Y/N, you're hardier than I thought!" His hands cover his mouth in disbelief, his hand waving at your confused face as he calms his incessant giggling. "You- you actually took that to heart? Don't even worry about it, I don't care what you think."
