Epilogue
*Ten years after*
"You look like an idiot." Jonathan chided as he threw a pillow on my butt. I sighed and took it as it thumped on the floor, with a glare I took purposeful strides towards him and choked him with the pillow playfully.
"Now who's the idiot, huh?" I laughed when he slapped the pillow away and took lungful of air. His dirty blonde hair was a complete mess with the slimy gel he kept on putting in it. It was gross but he said that was the trend so I would just shrug.
"Nath is an idiot!" He tucked his tongue out and darted outside my room, yelling to my mom about how I tried to strangle him to death. I rolled my eyes but ran after him, I hid the laughter that was breaking free from my throat.
That idiot has always been a crybaby! "Nath placed the pillow in my face and I can't breathe!" Jonathan said with his whiny voice and I slumped on the chair in the kitchen island while mom cooked our dinner.
"Oh really? And who threw the pillow at me first?" I said, rolling my eyes and mom shot me a pointed look and I sighed. "He did it first!" I said resigned.
"Jonathan, how many times did I tell you not to throw things at your sister?" Mom said as she looked down at my brother and patted his slimy gross head then she grimaced.
"And you're in need of a bath. You played with your dad's things again, didn't you?" She said and Jonathan's eyes widened innocently but I knew better. He certainly did!
"Nooo... I did not. Maybe Nath did?" He tucked his tongue out again towards me and I stopped the urge to do the same because he was a kid and I'm a lady!
Mom sighed and tugged at his arm after she turned off the gas stove. "I can take a bath by myself mom!" He whined again and I laughed.
"Fine, then. Now go upstairs and take a bath before I do it for you!" She said playfully and smiled down at my eight year old little brother lovingly. My mom has the greatest smile ever, she's sweet and pretty, the best mom a girl could have.
After a while, Jonathan ran upstairs, leaving only me with my mom. "Nath, didn't I tell you not to fight back to your brother? Only kids do that." She said and I smiled at her, I couldn't help it. I love my mom to pieces and even though she was reprimanding me, I was okay with that even if it was Jonathan's fault at the first place.
I stood and hugged her from her back, she stilled for a second and I felt her body sag as she leaned on me and touched my arms. "I love you mommy!" I said and she chuckled.
"I love you too, baby." She said and my heart warmed. She looked at the wall clock at the wall separating the kitchen from the living room and she chuckled. "We should get ready, don't you think?" She asked and my eyes snapped on the clock and my eyes grew wide. It was already six and Devin was coming at seven!
Crap.
"Now, no need to panic, I'll help you." She waggled her eyebrows and I laughed, yeah right, nothing is impossible with my mom. She's that cool! We went upstairs inside my room and I walked straight to my cabinet to take my dress for the night. Tonight was our prom and Devin was my date.
I like him.
I blushed at the thought and shrugged it away; I'd see him tonight anyway. Mom gestured me to sit in front of the vanity mirror and she started fixing my black hair. I have the same shade as hers but I got my eyes from my dad.
"How was your first date with daddy, mom?" I asked and she chuckled, what? I might be 17 but I still loved hearing stories about my mom and dad. They have the greatest love story, well at least for me. I could still remember how I loved hearing her talk about her prince and I would always fall asleep with her saying 'I love you'.
