Chapter 36

Leaving the door agape, Nath followed me inside my room as I started removing clothes from my closet. "Why are we paching?" She said making a mistake again from the word 'packing'. I made my way towards her and knelt so we were almost in eye level.

"Its 'packing', baby. We are going back to Nana's house... We will live there from now on." I said and she looked at me thoughtfully, processing what I just said. I smiled and patted her head then I resumed taking clothes from the rack inside the closet.

She then tailed behind me with her hands clamped together on her back and racked with her heel back and forth, as she observed me. "Only the two of us?" She asked,

"Yes, we're going to say bye to everyone after I pack everything. Can you put this on my bed, baby?" I asked as I handed her what I think was three pieces of clothing, which she took obligingly and trudged towards the bed.

After a while, she returned and took a handful of my shoes, both flats and heels then went out again. "If we go to Nana's house, then we will not see Aunt Amy more often..." I heard her voice and I presumed that she was standing at the door of the walk-in closet.

I responded without looking as I gathered more clothes in my arms, "She can always visit us anytime she wants baby, it's not really that far from here you know."

"How about Uncle Connor? We don't see him anymore." She whined and I refused to look at her, I knew that Connor must have hated me. Since the last time we talked, he never called me even once nor did he answer any of my calls. I was thinking that maybe our friendship was over along with our engagement, it pained me.

"He..." I sighed, "of course he can always drop by if he wants too."

"Then what about Uncle Nate? I miss him already, mom! We don't play anymore and he doesn’t visit anymore!" I turned abruptly to look at her, I had completely forgotten the fact that Nath had grown to like Nate so much, and that I would be taking them apart again. However, Nate never came to see her anymore; did he change his mind already?

Nath wiped her eyes childishly as she pouted her trembling bottom lip, I knelt before her and cupped her face, "Honey, I know, and I miss him too... but... Uncle Nate is a busy person. We shouldn't bother him because he has his own life to live and we're not a part of it." Why did my heart ache from what I just said?

Tears started to well from her eyes as she bit her trembling lip, I kissed her forehead and hugged her tightly, "But you do know that he loves you dearly, right? We all do." I murmured and she shook her head, making me look at her in wonder.

Brows furrowed she sniffed loudly and spoke the words I have been dreading to hear, "You're a liar mom, you always say that but it's never true! You also said daddy loves me dearly but he never came to see me, and now you're telling me Uncle Nate loves me too yet he won't play with me!" I was speechless as she pushed herself away from me, ran away and slammed the door of her room. I fell on my bum as my legs went numb and my mind went blank from everything aside from the look she gave me. It was a look of hurt and betrayal, which I have seen for so many times now.
