Chapter Twenty-five
Connor's POV
I watched her went inside the house when the doorbell rang, she's just so perfect. The sweetest and prettiest girl I have seen in my life, and her daughter, well she's a real princess. Nath was sitting on my shoulders and been tugging in my hair when Amy spoke beside me.
"Be glad that staring is free." She mocked as she rolled her eyes.
I started walking towards the shore and she walked behind me, "Whatever." I mumbled. What can I do aside from staring?
"Fight for her." Amy stated as if she just read my mind. I looked at her incredulously.
She snorted and looked at me with her infamous 'duh' face, "What? Nailed a nerve?"She asked.
"Are you some kind of a witch?" I joked and Nath giggled above me, we appeared and Amy smacked me playfully in the back.
"But seriously, waiting will get you to nowhere, pursue her." she said as if it was the easiest thing on earth. I have been pursuing Jane since college and it only got me here, friend zoned.
"I've been pursuing her, in case you haven't noticed." I said sarcastically and she just rolled her eyes.
"Really? Is that the best you can do?" she retorted and I really wanted to strangle her, maybe when she was asleep.
"Oh great mother of greatness Amy, tell me what to do!" I said faking a girl voice and Nath giggled more, tugging at my hair.
She rolled her eyes and stood before me with her arms folded on her front, "Marry her." she stated simply and I stared at her.
"You wanna be my daddy?" Nath butted in, looking down at me. I tightened my grip onto her small arms so she would not fall then smiled.
"Of course, princess." I said and she cocked her head sideways.
"Really?" she said and I smiled, but when my eyes landed to Amy, she was smiling at me sympathetically.
"Either way, you have to be bolder." she said and I let out a long sigh. Nath wriggled impatiently above me.
"Why?" I asked her, and she pointed towards the porch, shouting "Uncle Nate!" repeatedly. We looked at the house and saw Jane with Nate, as he waved his hand to Nath. I mentally rolled my eyes, this man is getting on my nerves. Can't I have a peaceful time with Jane and Nath without him popping out and sucking all the attention?
"Uncle Connor, let's go there, please!" she pleaded; I chuckled, and then ran fast towards the house making her squeal.
"Hi baby," Jane smiled lovingly at her daughter, Nath reached for her and I brought her down to her mother. I straightened up and turned to the man beside me, a small smile shadowing his face. He looked at me and gave me a curt nod and I nodded back.
"Hey." I said,
"Thanks for bringing them here." He said politely and I wanted to blatantly roll my eyes at him. What was it to him if I brought them here? As if, they were his family.
They are. A small voice inside my head retorted. That's right, I tend to forget that he's Nath's biological father.
"Sure." I replied, Nath then hugged him and his attention turned to the little girl tugging his navy blue button up shirt.
"Hi, kiddo!" he said as he smiled at her warmly, the type of smile where you could clearly see how much he adores the girl, it was obvious he was her dad. I looked at Jane and that particular look was again etched on her beautiful face. I only see that emotion on her face whenever she was looking at this man; it was a mixture of longing, hesitation, confusion and hope.
