Chapter 37

"Where are we going?" Nath asked impatiently as I parked the car in an empty street, taking off the key from the ignition, I unbuckled her from the seatbelt.

I smiled, "We're going to meet someone that wants to meet you so badly." She tilted her head to one side and looked at me as if telling me to continue with the details.

"Wait until you see them..." I said in a singsong voice before I went out of the car, made my way to the other side and took her in my arms. She looped her arms on my neck as I carried her all the way, to where Clara lives. I rang the doorbell and shortly, Clara opened the door for us.

She looked at me in pure surprise and I smiled at her, then her eyes trailed at the girl in my arms who was studying her reaction closely. She opened her mouth to speak but no words came out and she shut it.

"Hi, Clara." I said, breaking the silence formed between us. I placed Nath back on her feet and smiled to Clara again. "Sorry for coming uninvited."

"No. I don't mind, of course. Come in, dear... And you, little tyke." She gestured us to come inside, taking Nath's hand, we went in, and I could feel Clara's eyes trained on us as we made our way to the parlor of the house. The house was relatively huge so I was not surprised to see the inner design was posh, with a classy yet chic chandelier up the ceiling to the peach colored walls and the white leather sofas. Across to where we were standing was I presumed to be the entrance towards the main living room where I could see the wide LED screen of their television.

"Wow, this is almost like a palace mom, like my doll house." Nath whispered excitedly her eyes were shining with amusement. Clara chuckled behind us as she placed her hand on my shoulder.

"This is far from being a palace dear... But thanks for the compliment, my son and his firm designed both the exterior and the interior of this house." She informed proudly and she was almost glowing, Nate indeed loved by his parents.

"Wow, the esterowr and interowr..." Nath stopped midway her sentence as a framed photo caught her full attention. "Uncle Nate!" She said pointing onto the photo of Nate during his University graduation.

"Uncle?" Clara asked, looking at me both surprised and quizzical.

Leaving the details for later, I politely averted my gaze back to my daughter who was examining the photo closely, "This is Clara, Uncle Nate's mom... Say hi to her, baby." Nath looked at her as if sizing Clara then a wide smile made its way on her face. She tugged at the hem of my blue dress and I leaned towards her.

"What should I call her?" Nath whispered on my ear but loud enough for Clara to hear, she chuckled, few wrinkles was formed on each side of her eyes as her face lit up with a smile.

"I think we should ask Clara what she would like you to call her..." I said smiling at Clara who was looking at my daughter with endearing eyes.

"Oh." She chuckled, "calling me a grandma is a bit... And also granny is like so old for my liking..." She pondered as I stifled a laugh; she was adorable as she fussed on how her granddaughter should call her.
