Chapter Nineteen

"You should ask Uncle Connor to come with us in your recital." I suggested as I combed Nath's hair.

"Alright! Can I ask Uncle Nate too?" She beamed at me as she met my eyes from the mirror in front of us.

"Of course, baby, I'm sure he'll be delighted!" I smiled and she dangled her feet excitedly. I smiled inwardly; maybe having Nate back in our lives is not a bad idea after all. She is extremely happy with being friends with Nate; will that smile stay if she learns about Nate being her dad? She is still a kid and do not understand any of these. Maybe she will be hurt and traumatized, and then she will hate me. I cannot bear her hating me. I shook my head, no; I can't let her hate me.

"You want to bring Uncle Connor his lunch today?" I asked and she nodded her head vigorously, it already became a routine for us to visit him at the hospital during Sundays whenever he has duty.

We went inside the hospital and went straight to the elevators. I punched the up button while Nath was practically bouncing on her feet. I chuckled and looked up when the elevator opened. I was shortly speechless to see Nate standing inside with his casual jeans and gray polo that hangs perfectly in his body. His eyes widened when he saw us.

"Uncle Nate!" Nath squealed and pounced on him inside the elevator. He chuckled and patted her head as he cocked his head sideways.

"What are the two of you doing here?" He asked as he held Nath's hand. I went inside the elevator car and punched fourth floor button. The doors closed and I turned to them with a smile.

"We're here to deliver lunch." I smiled as I lifted the small square bag on my hand to let him see. He studied it and raised his eyes to look at me questioningly.

"For Connor. He's a resident doctor here." I said. He nodded his head; he crouched down and whispered something to Nath. She giggled and nodded her head still smiling widely.

"What are you two whispering about?" I raised an eyebrow as Nate stood up.

"It's a secret!" Nath giggled and I looked at Nate and he just shrugged. I shook my head in amusement and chuckled. These two are just so alike.

The elevator opened and we made our way to the huge white double doors of the operating room. At the side of the door are a fingerprint scanner for the staff and a doorbell for the visitors.

"I want to doorbell, mommy!" Nath pouted and I smiled.

"Sure baby. But just once okay? The nurses will get mad!" I moved to lift her when Nate did it before me.

"I'll do it." He said quietly and I nodded my head. He lifted Nath and she pushed the doorbell once. Then she pushed the button again. Nate chuckled as I playfully glared at them.

"I said once right?" I said with a straight face and Nate rolled his eyes as Nath's lips quivered.

"Its okay, Nath, mommy is just being a party pooper!" He cooed and Nath beamed at him totally forgetting that she's about to cry I rolled my eyes at the two of them then the doors clicked and a nurse wearing a navy blue scrub suit opened the doors.

"Oh, for Dr. Farrel?" She asked kindly. She looks familiar; I think I already met her once that's why she knew right away I'm here for Connor.

"Yes." I said as Nate with Nath in his arms walked behind me. The nurse looked at us with adoring eyes and ushered us inside.

"What a cute family" She mumbled and I felt the heat rising from my cheeks. I risked a sideway glance to see him smirking.

"What?" I asked rudely and he just snorted.
