Hawks POV-

"Sooo" I drawled out trying to hide my obvious excitement. 'I shouldn't get my hopes up'. "Yes" Y/n nodded clearly uncomfortable.

Currently I was seated on her couch while Y/n pulled up a seat directly in front of me, with some obvious distance.

"Yes" I nodded back rubbing my hands. "Nice weather we're having", she stalled still refusing to make eye contact with me. 'This is getting no where'

"Why did you burn my feather" I blurted out. "I told you, to get you here. Alone" she added. "Why, trying to kill me again?" I joked attempting to lift the tense mood rapidly filling the room.

"No, of course not" she quickly remarked almost making me laugh. "Look I am sorry about that though, I wasn't exactly in the best mindset" she apologized now in a lower almost embarrassed tone.

"You don't ever have to apologize to me" I said solemnly. Her eyes darted towards mine momentarily before shifting to something behind me. I let out a soft chuckle looking at Y/n.

"What?" She asked almost like I had made a joke and left her out. "That's the first time you've looked at me since I got here" I smiled. "What, no" she protested.

"Then look at me, I wish you would look back at me when I talk to you" I admitted holding back a bit of hope. Her eyes shifted back to mine and for a moment I saw it.

Her face softened.

"I want to know about before" she blurted out. "Before?" I repeated. "Before I was taken-" she paused momentarily,

"-I remember everything but between today and yesterday I keep blacking out. I look at things and it's like I remember something but it never clicks, like my memories are incomplete. I don't know what they did to me while I was with them, but I don't like my brain telling me one thing while everyone tells me something else"

"And I have something to do with that" I finished. "Yes. I saw the feather, your feather in a dream-". I snickered slightly holding back a laugh. "Don't laugh" she frowned in a scolding tone. I lifted my hands in defense.

"Sorry, continue" I said regaining my composure. "I thought it was a hunch but, it seemed to real. Like I had already been there, and done that. So I wanted to talk to you. All cards on the table" she concluded. "All cards on the table" I affirmed her, "Now ask away".

"Before, you said we- that me and you-", "were in a relationship, yes" I finished for her. "Was it-" she paused again.

"I'm in love with you" I confessed without hesitation. "Is that enough confirmation" I joked, waiting for her to respond. I watched her eyes immediately avert from mine.

Her voice was low almost a whisper that I wouldn't be able to hear if it had been anyone but her, "Did I-". "Feel the same way" I finished, "I'd hope so". She stayed quiet. Like she was thinking and analyzing every word I had said so far.

"Okay" she finally said. I was practically at the edge of my seat and all she had to say was "Okay". 'What does that even mean'.

"Okay" I said back to her. 'Fuck, why do I feel like this is my last chance to get through to her'. She began to stand up leaving me sitting.
