Y/N POV

As you packed up your bags about to leave for lunch with your friends you heard your name being called.

"Y/n", the familiar voice called out. You looked up to see that Aizawa who still stood next to Hawks was the one calling you over. You quickly walked over to your friends who were at the moment waiting for you.

"I'll meet you guys over there you just go without me" you insisted. Mina gave a bright smile and hugged you "Okay we'll see you there then". The group then promptly walked away with Denki and Kirishimia waving goodbye while Jirou held a conversation with Mina.

Bakugo on the other hand stood there for a moment faltering before simply blurting out "Tsk see you later extra" but still glancing back at you as he walked away.

You then turned around making your way up to Hawks who was grinning from ear to ear, and Aizawa who blankly stared at you. Nearly at a 90 degree angle you bowed in front of both men querying at why you were called over.

"You wanted to talk to me sensei". "Hawks would like to talk to you" he quickly announced in a once again blank voice while he zipped himself up in the oh so familiar yellow sleeping bag he always carried.

"Play nice" he whispered turning to you before exiting the classroom dragging his sleeping bag along with him. With just you and Hawks remaining in the now empty classroom he grinned at you in attempt to ease the ever growing tension.

Breaking the silence he finally let out "Y/n to be frank I would like you to fill the spot as one of my interns". You raised one eyebrow gazing into his golden eyes processing what he said.

"Not interested"

'I hope that wasn't too blunt but I can't study under him, it will go against everything I've been working towards'

HAWKS POV

'Not interested what does that even mean' I am certain any other student would gladly jump at my offer so why not her. Maybe she's just nervous, or accidentally said no, or maybe it's because I'm not used to hearing no.

Something isn't sitting right with me I might as well straight up ask her

"And why not"

Responding in nearly an instant with something that sounded like that of a mantra she said

"I am not interested in being a type of hero in the category I feel you especially fall into. So I don't think studying under you is in either of our best interest"

My jaw dropped - like literally I physically had to close my mouth. She is by far one of the strongest in her class with a secure spot in the top five. She still has so much potential to uncover so what is she even talking about.

'Category, not in my best interest' ,

It all ran through my mind and I couldn't help but continue to ponder. I mean why the hell would she come this far only to say she didn't want to be a hero like me. I mean I think I'm pretty great.

Y/N POV-

Hawks smile seemed to have quickly faded when I told him I didn't want to study under a hero like him. 'Maybe I was a little too straight forward' . But his confused face was quickly replaced with a large grin as he asked me

"Why would you come this far not to be a hero like me. I mean not to toot my own horn but I think I'm a pretty great hero, the number two to be exact".

He looked me in the eyes flashing me another grin as he put his hand on my shoulder. In a booming tone he continued "Y/n I really want you to join my internship, you came out number one in the sports festival last year so I could really use someone like you in my program".

You shrugged his hand off of your shoulder and looked him right back in the eyes.

"Look it seems like you don't understand, I do not want to be a hero like you okay it's just that simple" you responded. You could feel your face heating up as you wondered why he couldn't just leave it be.

"You're right I don't understand, but I want to. I won't stop asking until you give me a valid reason not to" he pleaded. He sat down putting his feet on the desk closest to him while gesturing for you to sit down next to him.

You let out a sigh as you didn't exactly enjoy divulging the details of your past. Especially with someone like him who would just keep pushing. But, you quickly came to realize he could never understand unless you told him.

'I am old enough to be able to tell people now. It doesn't really matter now I'm over it so I might as well. He can be my test drive in how I choose to tell people, and best comes to best maybe I can just scare him off'
