Once in the room : Cynthia : « hru girls ? » Leïa : « fine, thanks » You : « yeah we're good, wbu ? » Cynthia : « same » You talk about everything and nothing while waiting for the boys. Cynthia : « well, what are they doing ? » Madi : « idk, come on, let's go see them. They can't take longer than me anyway » raising her eyes a little. You guys laugh a bit, then go knock on their rooms. Cynthia : « well, are you coming ? We've been waiting for you for 30 minutes » Josh : « it's okay, we're coming » Eventually they all come out of their rooms, so you leave for the karting.
Once there, you guys see the whole circuit. Chris : « are we really on a boat ? Like-.. » Jaden : « fr » Leïa : « well, shall we do this race ? » Anthony : « yeah, let's go » You all sign up, except Maya, who sits on the side and watches you guys. There is already a group on the track, so you wait for them to finish their race. Josh : « well, in the meantime, I'm taking bets » 😌 Talia : « you wanna bet ? » Payton : « because he thinks he's actually going to win. But nobody told him I was there, so.. » Leïa : « oh no.. not you too » 💀 You : « you guys are way too confident » Payton : « realistic I would say » You : « you think we can't beat you ? » Payton : « mmh.. not you anyway » teasing you. You look at him like that :

You : « okay. You wanna bet ? » Payton : « 3 races, 2 wins ? » reaching out his hand to you. You : « perfect. » shaking hands with him. He laughs a bit.
Those who were on the track leave, so you each take a kart and go to the starting line. The start is given. Everyone is going very fast, you accelerate, you drive as fast as you can, but Payton is ahead of you. You see him cross the finish line, so you clench your teeth. You arrive a few seconds later. You stop and Payton comes to see you. You : « no shht. I still have two races left » going back to the start. He giggles.
You run a second race, and pass Payton near the end and win. You : « YES. Hehe » 😌 Payton : « okay okay, 1 point each » You : « so how do you explain that ? Sir "I can't be beat" » 😌 Payton : « there has to be a little suspense » 🤷🏻♀️😌 You : « ..are you saying you lost on purpose ? » Payton : « naah » You : « pfff, I beat you, that's all » confident. You : « well, come on, I have a race to win » 😌 Payton : « let's go then »
You go to the starting line and the race begins. Payton starts in front of you, at one point you pass him, he looks at you and then passes you on the next bend. You accelerate as much as you can, you almost reach his level but he crosses the finish line right before you. You : « fuck. » clenching your teeth and crossing the finish line too. Payton skids and gets out of the kart. You stop, take off your helmet and stay in the kart, sighing a bit, disappointed. You really wanted to prove to him that you could win. He comes to you and says nothing. He is just looking at you, proud of himself. You look at him then turn your head, raising your eyes.
Payton : « so, we're a sore loser ? » teasing you. You clench your teeth a little. Payton : « it's not like I didn't warn you » 😌 You turn your head and look at him like that :

He shrugs, looking sorry, then laughs a bit. You get out of the kart with your head held high, walk past him without saying anything and start walking towards the others. Payton : « y/n.. » raising his eyes, smiling a bit. You keep walking, ignoring him. He runs towards you, and when he gets to your level, he puts his arm on your shoulders. Payton : « you're gonna be okay, dw » You : « arghh, you're so annoying » removing his arm, being a sore loser. He giggles.
You come to the others. Leïa : « so, y/n ? » You : « he went right past me » frustrated and therefore tense. Leïa : « chill » laughing a bit. You : « but look at him. He's even more confident now » 💀 You sigh and Leïa giggles. You guys do a few more laps, the morning goes by and you start to get hungry. Madi : « well, I'm hungry, aren't you ? » Jaden : « I'm starving actually » Maya : « well, good for you guys I booked a table in a restaurant » Madi : « omg ily girl » 😩
So you all go to the restaurant. You are next to Talia and in front of you, there are Maya and Leïa. Payton is at the other end of the table, and not on the same side as you. You look at everyone and then meet his eyes. He smiles at you a little, then imitates you sulking to tease you. You raise your eyes, smiling slightly, then turn your head towards the girls. He smiles a bit.
Leïa is sitting next to Anthony. You see them getting closer during lunch. They talk a lot and tease each other. You are happy for them, but it reminds you of Matt. So you start zoning out and getting lost inside your head. Talia notices it. Talia : « are you okay ? » You : « ..what ? » confused, coming to your senses. Talia : « you okay ? You looked.. absent » You : « oh, no, I'm fine » with a little smile. Talia : « sure ? » You : « uhum » Payton also noticed it from a distance. He glances at you, but says nothing. You finish eating and chill the rest of the day. In the evening, you walk the others back to their rooms, then go up to yours.
Two days go by. Leïa and Anthony are getting closer and closer. On your side, you got really close to Talia and you still have this good feeling with Payton, so obviously you guys got a little closer too. On the other hand, it is a little cold with Matt. You feel him kind of distant and you wish you guys could talk more often because you miss him.
