A Prank for Laughs - Chapter 23

Y/N's P.O.V

As the morning after the ball arrived, after some heavy encouragement, I was ready to talk to Remus about the night previous.

"Hey Remus!"

"Hey Y/N!" we said simultaneously.

"So I wanted to talk to you about what happened last night."

"So I wanted to talk to you about what happened last night." we said in sync again and laughed awkwardly.

"Okay. You go first." 

"Okay. You go first."

"No. You."  

"No. You."

"Okay this is getting annoying, I'll just go first." I said and took a deep breath. "Listen Remus, I love and appreciate you...as a friend. But last night I just got caught up in the heat of the moment and I don't want things to be weird between us so...can we just...forget about it?" I pleaded.

Remus' P.O.V

I really should've gone first. I actually wanted to say the exact opposite and ask her if she wanted to go out sometime. But I was respectful of what she wanted and accepted her offer.

"So what were you going to say?" Y/N asked staring into my eyes.

"Something along those lines..." I lied scratching the back of my neck.

"Okay. We should probably head to class." Y/N said in a slightly disappointed tone. Wait. Why was she disappointed?

A few hours after classes, the boys noticed that I was a feeling gloomy and as always, they somehow knew the reason why. I could see it on their faces. But I guess they loved me enough not to bring it up.

"Hey Remus. We haven't pranked someone in a while! Let's go pull a big one!" Sirius exclaimed excitedly.

"We literally just pranked three first years four days ago." I said skeptically.

"I know right! It's been forever!" James said in a longing tone.

"I-I'll go call Y/N!" Peter said and started going up the stairs. He came back down after a minute with a confused look on his face.

"She isn't there." he said.

"There's only two other possible things she could be doing: Playing Quidditch or reading books in the library for fun." James shuddered while saying the last thing like she was crazy.

"Probably." I shrugged.

"I thought you'd want to know where she was..." Sirius said confusedly.

"You know, maybe my 'feelings' for her were just mood swings or something." I lied with a heavy heart. The truth was that I pushed my feelings down ever since this morning. Fast right?

"Okay..." James said not entirely convinced.

After that conversation we headed to the grounds and searched for Y/N, but she wasn't there. So we went up to the library where we noticed her L/S, H/C hair and her face hidden behind a book.

"Hey Y/N." James said quietly.

Y/N didn't say anything and looked up from her book, looked at the three next to me before glaring at me and going back to her book.

"What did you do Remmy?" Sirius asked.

I just shrugged panicking and had a confused look on my face.

"What's wrong Y/N?" Peter asked.
