MAIA'S POV

Rydel went on social media and looked for cute guys in the community. She looked for surfer type of guys and our type. It's pretty crazy that we are stalking guys but it's worth getting a shot to go out with them. Rydel told me she likes this guy named Ellington. He's in the band with them too but he has a girlfriend so Rydel is mad. For me Ross and Maddie seem to have a thing so I'll just show Ross I don't need him. I mean I can find a better guy at the beach. Now I have an idea.

"Rydel! Let's go to the beach! We can find cute surfers there!" I jumped
"Oh my god Maia why didn't you tell me sooner!" She said

Rydel and I ran straight to the beach and looked for groups of guys.

"Is it weird that we are going to search for guys" I laughed
"No it's not weird that we are trying to find guys to talk to Maia. Just think it this way we are going to find new friends, friends who we think are cute" she laughed
"True okay what about those?" I said
"No they look like stoners" she said
"Okay what about.. There's ross and my cousin" I said changing my tone
"Woah wait! No! What?!" She stopped me "you like ross!!" She yelled
"RYDEL!" I said covering her mouth
"Yes now be quite before the world finds out" I said
"Ross? Can't you find someone more attractive" she teased
"That's what I'm trying to do" I said
"Okay oooo what about those two guys right there sitting on their surf boards" Rydel pointed
"I call the guy with the brown hair" I joked
"Then I get this friend" she laughed
"They are both cute too" Rydel seemed excited and I'm not going to lie so was I.

We got closer to them but we had a plan so we didn't seem desperate. The plan was too ask them if they were local surfers and just start a conversation.

"Hey are you guys local surfers?" Rydel asked and I smiled to them
"Yeah! Do you guys live here?" One guy said
"Yeah we live right next to here. We are surfers too" I smiled to the cute brown headed guy
"That's cool my name is Trent and his name is Hudson" the brown headed guy said
"Cool my name is Rydel and my friend here is Maia" Rydel said
"do you guys want to hang out its Sunday and its summer" Hudson said
"Sure" I said
"Yeah" Rydel smiled and sat on the sand

It worked! We have two new cute guy friends that we have to find out if they are single.

"So how long you've been surfing" Trent asked me
"I've been surfing for like four years and you?" I said
"About 7 years I think" Trent smiled
"Cool" I said
"Do you guys come out here a lot?"
Hudson asked us
"Kind of" Rydel said putting her hair back
"Not trying to be weird or anything but don't you guys have boyfriends?" Hudson said

We looked at each other and laughed. Rydel and I kept smiling.

"No we don't" I laughed
"You serious?" Trent said
"Very" Rydel told him
"Well you guys have now got new guy friends and we will help you" Hudson said
"Don't you guys have girlfriends?" I asked
"Psh no does it look like I would have a girlfriend" Trent looked at me
"Maybe I mean you aren't ugly" I said to them
"We aren't ugly!" Hudson laughed
"Well thanks" Trent said
"Since you guys don't think we are ugly I'll invite you guys for se ice cream how does that sound?" Hudson said
"Very cool bro" Trent joked
"Shut up! Well who wants to go with me?" He asked us
"I'll go with you" Rydel got up and we smiled at each other knowing that he was her guy.
"Okay we'll be back" Hudson said

"So Maia what's up? What are you planning to do this summer?" Trent asked me
"I don't know? I'll probably ride some waves and cool off a bit" I said looking off to the waves.
"Why what happen?" He asked me
"Crazy stuff has been going on and I need to get my mind off things that's why me and Rydel came here" I said looking at him in the eyes
"It's okay Maia you'll be fine" Trent patted my back and came in closer
"I've recently broke up with one of my exs and its been bad" he said
"Same" I said
"Then let's celebrate to the bad people who are gone in our life and live up to something better" He said
"That's true" I said and hugged him

Rydel and Hudson came back and we are our ice cream. We ended up staying there for two hours getting to know them better and we even got their phone numbers!! Trent even accepted to come to my house to chill!! I'm so excited right now. This is really cool and I'm happy that we are good friends. Trent is the chillest and he's real. He has good vibes. Rydel and Hudson left back and Trent and I walked back to my house. The walk was very short. As we came closer to my house I saw Ross and Maddie through the window in the back.

"Looks like someone took our spot" I whispered to Trent.
"Is that your cousin you talked about?" He asked
"Yup and her boyfriend I think?" I said

I took Trent through the front door instead so it wouldn't look weird walking through the outside door.
I can tell I was getting red and nervous so I tried to calm down.

"You okay?" Trent asked
"Yeah" I said opening the door. I realized it was 10pm already! Time went by quick

I walked in with Trent to my side and see them watching a movie.

"Hey this is my uh friend Trent, Trent this is ross and Maddie" I said
"Sup guys" Trent said to them giving them a peach sign
"Hey" they both said

We awkwardly sat down on the other couch and watched the scary movie they were playing on Netflix.

"What the hell are you guys watching?" I said terrified
"Insidious it's not even scary calm down" ross said looking at me and Trent
"It's okay Maia" Trent got closer

This is exactly what I wanted but it feels wrong in front of Ross. I looked over to Ross making eye contact and I saw him give me a low smile. Now it feels so wrong I just want to run over to him but now it looks like he has his stupid arm around her. Looks like we are going different ways.
