One month later 1/2 way to their summer

MAIA'S POV

Half way through summer vacation and it's turning out well. Today I'm going to go shopping with Rydel.

Maddie became a bitch to Rydel so she didn't invite her. Hudson and Rydel became a thing and they are honestly the cutest.

I walked around Urban Outfitters looking for cute tops. I scanned around the store with Rydel holding shopping bags.

"Are you coming to my house later?" Rydel says as she finds a cute pair of earrings.
"I don't know probably"
"Look Ross is going to be with Maddie who knows where so it won't be awkward" Rydel says as she gets the pair of earring to buy.
"I don't care if he's there I know we haven't really talked in a while but still I'm not sure" I go to the purchase some shorts and head back out to the outdoor mall with Rydel. We wonder around the stores looking for clothes and head back home.

"Aussie how's it been" Ross pops out of my porch.
"Pretty good haven't talked to you in a while" I carry my bags inside and take off my shades.
"Well you've been quite busy with Trent huh" Ross leans on the chair.
"Same goes to you with Maddie" I smirk
"Yeah well we need to hang out again as in hangout not 5 minute talks" he point at me
"Yes sir" I say giggling
"Well have you seen my parents?" I ask
"They said they left to a friend's party so they took Charlie too"
"They don't even invite me anymore" I say rolling my eyes

Ross laughs a bit and waits for Maddie to come out.

"I'm going to go hang with Rydel I'll hang out with you later" I said grabbing my phone from the kitchen table.
"Didn't you just come from shopping with her?" He says confused
"And?"
"I bet you spend more time with Rydel then spending time with your parents" he jokes
"So true but then again my parents only talk to Maddie and Charlie most of the time" I said getting a bit jealous

I walk out of my house and go inside the Lynchs' house and go upstairs to Rydels room. Rydel and Hudson are inside her room laughing and playing around.

Hudson throws a pillow at me playfully "look who came" he laughs

"Look who's here" I roll my eyes at him
"You guys are stupid" Rydel shakes her head
"This is how we communicate" Hudson laughs making all of us laughing with him. His laughter is hilarious

While they begin a new conversation I blank out everything and think about how my parents and mostly everyone else are just shutting off on me.
My mom and dad only talk to me when they need something or when they tell me dinner is ready. Charlie doesn't annoy me at all anymore like he used too now he's having a fun time with his favorite cousin. Maddie doesn't speak to me as much because she doesn't like Rydel and if you don't like Rydel then you're not cool with me. Ross is towards the bottom too we don't talk as much as we used too but I casually see him pass by. Trent is always here for me but he got a summer job down at the surf shop so he has been working except he always comes and visits me when he can. But Rydel she's here for me 24/7 she'll text me at 2 in the morning just to ask if I'm asleep which makes me laugh considering that she's the reason why I never sleep. Rydel is like a sister to me and I'm so glad she the one person I can really count on.

"Maia maia? Maia!" They say trying to get my attention
"Are you even listening?" Hudson says
"Yeah yeah keep going" I said looking up at them while they talked about planning to go the concert.

"So do you think we should go this weekend?"
"Yeah for Cage the Elephant right" hoping that's what they were talking about
"Who else silly? I won four pair of tickets and we can go as a double date" Rydel stroked Hudson's hair and they quickly got close so I left before getting disgusted. I walked out of her room and took steps down to the living room.

I heard my phone ring so I picked it up and read a text from Ross
Ross- Leave Rydel to her boyfriend and meet me in the garage I got something to show you ⚡️

I texted back
M- be right there 👍

I turn the door knob open from their garage door and saw Ross writing some lyrics on a notebook. I walked in quietly not trying to disturb him but he soon spun his chair looking my direction.

"Well finally you show up" he chucks
"Yeah I know i left before getting disgusted. What you writing?" I ask sitting down on a sofa.
"There's this song I've been writing about someone so I'm expressing my words into the song" in my mind I immediately think it's for Maddie. It has to be.
"That's awesome Maddie will love it" he lightly smiles and hands me the guitar.

"Here play some chords" he says giving me a pick
"Okay" I grab the guitar and play a song by City and Colour. I finish the song and give him back the guitar. I see a huge smile on his face.

"I haven't played in a while" I'm surprised I've even remembered the song
"You're really good aussie" Ross immediately writes something down and laughs
"What are you making fun of me?!" I kick him (playing around)
"What no!"
"Whatever you know what I was.." I got cut off by the sound of a door opening.
"Ross I'm here" Maddie pops in sitting on him.

I see Ross close him notebook and set his guitar aside.

"Maia" she looked concern
"I invited her to come and play one thing on my guitar" Ross comes in
"You play guitar?" Maddie asks
"Yup!" I look at the ground
"Oh your mom said they were going to go somewhere tomorrow for your dads work I believe" she says while putting her arm around Ross's neck
"Why couldn't they tell me there selves" I whisper to myself
"Okay well goodnight and Ross slide it later" I say looking at him because he knew about the inside joke we had.
"What?" Maddie asks him
"It's what the cool kids say bae" he lies

I open the door and walk back to my house. 'It's what the cool kids say' I laugh at the thought of that.
Couldn't he have thought of something else? Oh Ross
