CHAPTER TWENTY-FIVE
LIE ABOUT THE TRUTH"THE DREAD DOCTORS BY T.R MCCAMMON." Lydia Martin spoke, holding up a book as her, Belle and Malia wandered through the crowded halls of Beacon Hills High. Belle wasn't sure exactly why she was there, but she just wanted an excuse as to why she wasn't in Math class.
Suddenly, Lydia had stopped in her tracks, brows furrowed causing Belle, who wasn't looking where she was going to walk straight into the strawberry blonde's back, and for Malia to do the exact same for her. Slightly dazed, the girls pulled apart.
"What?" asked the Werecoyote, wondering why she'd just stopped in the middle of the corridor.
"I don't know. There's something about it. Has anyone actually read it yet?" Lydia asked, and Belle snorted a laugh, knowing that she didn't read books. Only online ones that were usually about dating Alice Cullen, but no one had to know about that.
"Just me, and I didn't understand any of it." Malia replied.
"We should probably all read it." Lydia explained, and Belle furrowed her brows, eyes widening.
"That doesn't include me— right?" She tried assure herself, before shutting up when Lydia had sent a glare in her direction, basically telling her that she had to. The girls had all leant against a locker, whilst the Martin inspected it some more.
"Stiles says he can't find anything on the author. He thinks it's a pen name." Malia had told her, reading over the title again. Belle furrowed her brows at the initials T.R, though she'd brushed it off, knowing even if it were Theo, he would be too dumb to write a book.
"In a small New England town, teenagers are taken in the night and buried alive. Days later, they emerge transformed, wreaking havoc and spreading terror, commanded by an ancient order of Parascientists, also known as The Dread Doctors..." Lydia had read aloud, and shrugging her shoulders.
"Sounds eventful."
"And sounds vaguely familiar, how does it end?" asked the strawberry blonde, whilst Belle went silent, trying to think back in her mind. The Scientists, they sounded familiar, like someone had told her about them before.
"It doesn't. This is supposed to be volume one."
"Oh let me guess, there is no volume two." Lydia joked, rolling her eyes as she knew the answer already.
"I think we're living volume two."
"Well, then the real question is... Is this a novel, or somebody's prediction?" Lydia hummed, and Belle glanced at the book again, catching the two older girl's attention.
