CHAPTER 42

"Your father is out of danger now. Let's just hope for his fast recovery." The doctor excused himself after giving us some updates.

I heave a deep breathe after what the doctor said. Parang may binunot na tinik sa aking kaloob-looban at tuluyan na nga akong nakahinga ng maluwag.

Lord, thank you so much for making papa away from danger. I owe it to you, Lord!

"Anak," napalingon kaagad ako kay Mama at niyakap s'ya ng mahigpit. If someone is in worst condition now aside from Papa, it's Mama. She haven't had a decent meal and sleep after the unfortunate heart attack. Nakabantay lang s'ya nang matyaga kay papa at hinihintay na magkamalay at makausap ang doctor.

"Shhhh... It's okay, ma. Don't worry. Okay na si Papa. Let's pray that he'll wake up sooner than later." I tapped her back as I felt her shoulder shaking lightly. Naririnig ko rin ang pagsinghot n'ya.

"Ako muna ang bahala rito, Ma. You need to sleep and eat." I said as I noticed how dark the circles are under her eyes.

Aayaw pa sana s'ya ngunit hindi ako pumayag. I told her I will be fine here and she can comeback the moment she regained enough strength. Mahirap na at baka naman s'ya ang magkasakit.

Kakarating ko lang rito hours ago, at hanggang ngayon ay wala pa ring malay si papa. Kung iisipin ay ma swerte pa rin kami. Papa's heart attack isn't that fatal.

Huminga ulit ako ng malalim bago isinandal ang likod sa sofa rito sa loob ng kwarto ni Papa. I'm tired, too. Wala pa akong pahinga magmula nang makarating ako rito. My flight took almost 17 hours and all the time I'm flying above, my mind is clouded with all my unsettled thoughts. Hindi ko alam kung saan ba ako magpo-focus kaya kahit gustuhin ko mang matulog ay wala akong nagawa dahil ayaw tumigil ng isipan ko sa paglalakbay.

Sa isa pang pagkakataon, ay magbuntong hininga ako.

I wasn't able to call Laxus, Dane and my friends para magpaalam. Pagkasabi ni Mama ng masamang balita ay wala akong inaksayang oras at kumuha kaagad ng mga kailangan kong gamit. I only brought a small luggage containing all my necessities including some clothing. May damit pa naman ako sa bahay kaya doon nalang ako kukuha.

I fished my phone inside my pocket at tinawagan si Laxus. Ini-on ko muna iyon. Ngayon ko pa lang ito nai-open magmula noong pagsakay ko ng eroplano. I'm so out of focus.

Wala na akong inaksaya pang oras at dinial kaagad ang numero ni Laxus.

"Lax--" I was suddenly cut off by the person on the other line.

"My God, Win! You've been out for how many fucking hours! Where the hell are you!? Don't tell me you ran away? I went into your house and you're not there! Naka-lock pa ang pinto!" His loud voice echoed on my ears. Inilayo ko pa iyon sa aking tenga dahil sobrang lakas ng pagkakasigaw n'ya.

"Laxus," I calmly called him. Wala akong lakas para makipagtalo pa sa kanya.

"What? You're just going to call me by my name calmly like nothing happened? You're such an ass! I'm telling you, Win. Pumunta kana rito sa site. You don't know how worried I am." His voice might be loud and he's being harsh to me right now, but I can't stop myself from smiling.

Laxus is a big brother to me. He's always looking after me with or without me noticing it. This side of him is what I liked the most. He might not be very vocal about it, but he cares for me more than I can imagine.

"Can you calm down a bit?" I said as I caress my stomach. Bigla kasi iyong tumunog. Ngayon ko pa lang naramdaman ang gutom ko.

"No, I can't and will not! Saan ka ba naglalagi? Makikita mo talaga Carl Erwin, isusumbong kita kay Tito Carlo!"
