After Dimitri got himself dressed and ready to go to Royce and Carmelita's apartment, Carmelita gave Dimitri brief and explicit instructions about Hoshimi and to call either of them if anything comes up. This was right before Royce came up to his wife and whispered something into Carmelita's ear.
Carmelita: "Are you serious?! Today is your Birthday?!," Carmelita looks at the December calendar, displaying December the Six as her husband's birthday, "Why didn't you tell me!!" Carmelita replied irritably.
Royce: "I don't need any Birthday gifts," Royce told Carmelita who was surprised to hear, "I already have my presents, you and Hoshimi."
Dimitri: "Let's go out and celebrate my friends!"
