While she waited for her food, Dina began believing that maybe the other inmates weren't looking at her because she was new, but because of the very visible injuries on her head. She still had a bandage wrapped around her fracture at the back of her head and stitches along the side of her forehead from the collision she had with the balcony during her fall. Each injury felt painful, but she knew better than to show any sign of weakness in a place like this.
Once her cellmate got her food, she walked off, leaving Dina on her own as her food got plated up for her, she was now truly alone, the chances of her being protected by her cellmate were completely gone since she decided to leave her. After grabbing her own tray full of unappetizing food, which was basically slop, she walked slowly around the refectory, looking for an empty table to sit at. After walking past many menacing inmates that either mocked Dina with laughter or simply stared at her evilly, she finally found a table in the corner of the refectory.
She went to take a seat, eager to finally get some food in her stomach, even if it did look like yesterday's waste. As soon as she sat down, she began digging in to her food, although, trying not to stuff it into her mouth at once and look desperate in front of the other inmates, keeping a reputation of a hardened criminal is what would get her through this alive, even if that wasn't what she was. Before she could finish her meal, someone slammed their tray down in front of her.
"You're at our table, I suggest you move, fish"
A woman built like a brick house demanded, scowling at the smaller inmate, Who looked around where she was sitting, a whole crew stood before her, each one of them looking as fierce as the other.
Finally, Dina looked down, examining the table and the chairs that sat around it.
"I don't see your name on it..."
Dina chuckled, causing the woman to get visibly angry
"Listen here, if you don't move your ass out of my seat, we're going to have trouble"
She warned, but Dina simply shrugged in response
"I'll move when I'm done, and would you look at that. I'm almost finished, I'm sure you can wait out a few more mouthfuls, right?"
Dina challenged, the troublemaker in her beginning to show.
Before she could react, the woman grabbed her by her shirt and picked her up with sheer strength, before tearing the bandage from Dina's head and putting pressure on her fresh wound.
"You listen to me, you arrogant piece of shit. You do not want to make an enemy out of me!"
The woman bellowed, applying more pressure on Dina's wound, causing her to cry out in pain. The C.O's on watch simply watched, like they also feared the violent woman.
"You will go and eat your scraps somewhere else..."
The woman started, throwing Dina to the ground before grabbing her tray and throwing it at her.
Dina shielded her face as the tray hit her arm, food splattering all over her.
"And if I see you back at our table, I will make a bloody example of you in front of the rest of the inmates"
She growled, Dina simply sat up, chuckling. But before she had the chance to respond, a voice bellowed from the other side of the refectory.
"Leave her alone, Sevika. She's just a newbie"
The inmate said, pushing her way through the newly formed crowd of inmates that were spectating the commotion.
Dina looked into the crowd, and the same pink haired inmate she was cellmates with pushed her way to the front of the crowd, walking towards her and Sevika with her fists clenched.
"I didn't think you concerned yourself with the wellbeing of the other inmates, Vi..."
The woman, who's name was Sevika, shrugged.
"I don't usually, but this woman is my cellmate"
Vi informed, walking closer to the taller woman. Suddenly, the tattoo on her face made sense to Dina.
"And I should care, why?"
"Because the last time you crossed me, you got put through nearly every table in this refectory. Don't tell me you need reminding of how that felt?"
Vi smirked, cracking her wrapped knuckles.
"Don't sweat it, pink. She's not at our table anymore, so you can take your puppet and go"
Sevika said, shaking her head and sitting at her table, her gang joining her with their food.
As Vi let her guard down and headed to Dina, helping her to her feet. Sevika ordered one of her thugs to get her food for her, before turning to us and speaking one last time.
"Oh, and Vi?"
Vi looked at her with a raised eyebrow.
"You may have won before. But now, I have the numbers, and I'm bigger. So be careful when threatening me, or you might get hurt"
She warned, Vi simply chuckled before flipping her off as she left the refectory, with one arm around Dina as they both walked.
