Dina waited, and waited, pacing her cell as she waited for Vi to come back. When one of the C.O's announced that it was time for lights out, she groaned. Without any other choice, she laid on her concrete slab, waiting for a C.O to come check. Hopefully he would notice that Vi wasn't here for count and raise an alarm, but when he came, he did no such thing. He just looked at Dina and checked Vi's bed before continuing to the next cell. It had been hours since Vi had been taken, she had to have been back by now.
More hours passed, and Vi still hadn't come back. Dina tried to stay awake, but she couldn't help but nod off, it had been a long day and she was exhausted. Footsteps could be heard approaching some time after Dina fell asleep, and she snapped awake. She jumped to her feet and rushed to the cell door, trying to look at where the footsteps were coming from.
Two C.O's were dragging a pink-haired inmates by her arms as she couldn't walk on her own, and Dina knew immediately who it was. The cell door opened and the C.O's dragged Vi to her cell, throwing her in before closing the door again and walking off. She stumbled on her knees, clutching her side. Dina wasted no time rushing over to her and helping her on to her bunk.
"What did they do to you?"
Dina asked, when Vi found the strength to sit up on her own, she looked at Dina. Her face was bruised and her nose was bloody, but she still smiled.
"Someone in the refectory noticed my hands and snitched. It didn't take much to put two and two together after they found the guys that we left in the room"
She explained, sitting blood on to the floor.
Dina cupped Vi's battered face, looking in to her eyes with concern before hugging her
"Ouch, gentle"
Vi hissed in pain, to which Dina apologised before loosening her grip.
"You were gone for far too long, I didn't know what to think"
She said, trying to fight her own tears
"Aww, you care"
Vi joked, making Dina pull away and shake her head with a laugh,
"Seriously, I'm glad you're back"
Dina said before leaning in and kissing Vi. She made sure to be gentle since she didn't want to hurt her cellmate.
Just as she was about to pull away, Vi's bloody hand shot up and pulled her back, desperate to continue the kiss. Dina could taste blood in the kiss, but it didn't bother her, Vi's lips were still tasted heavenly and she was addicted to them. After a moment of continuing the kiss, Dina pulled away once more, and this time, Vi let her.
"Let's get you cleaned up"
Dina said, grabbing the bottle of alcohol and the bandages she had got earlier.
"I guess it is good to have these handy"
Dina joked, making Vi laugh slightly before it turned into a pained cough.
Dina approached Vi, taking one of the bandages and bunching it up, making it like a rag before pouring some alcohol on it.
"This is going to sting"
She warned
"I've done this a thous-"
Vi stopped speaking as the alcohol stained rag touched her cheek, making her jump and hiss in pain once more.
"I did warn you"
Dina said, before pressing the rag on to the cut once more.
"You don't have to do this"
Vi said, relaxed as she got used to the stinging sensation.
"Of course I do, I wont be able to sleep if you complain all night"
Dina joked once more, making Vi roll her eyes.
After cleaning Vi's face of blood, she moved to her knuckles, since Vi never got the chance to clean them ealier. The pink-haired inmate flinched a bit when the rag made contact with her skin, but she relaxed quickly.
"Did they get anywhere else?"
Dina asked as she removed the rag from Vi's hand and began wrapping it with a clean bandage.
"Not that I know of"
Vi said, once Dina had finished putting on the bandages, she stood up, allowing Vi to adjust herself and lay down. Her nose scrunched up in pain and her eyes were squeezed shut as she tried so hard not to yelp out in pain as she moved. When she laid down, her breaths were heavy and it was like she was wheezing as she tried to get air to her lungs.
Dina frowned as she noticed her cellmates struggle, and sat on the edge of the bed.
"I need you to do me a favour, but it might hurt"
"What's up?"
"I need you to lift up your shirt for me"
Dina asked, Vi let out a nervous laugh followed by a grin
"Woah, trying to go there already, Dee? Can't you see I need some rest?"
She joked, this time it was Dina's turn to roll her eyes
"I just want to check your ribs, you can barely breathe"
"What are you? A doctor?"
Vi asked
"No, but I know what I'm looking for. I've spent many years patching up my own wounds"
Dina answered. After a moment of hesitation, Vi pulled her shirt up, but not too much to reveal anything other than the dark bruising over her ribs.
"Holy shit"
Dina exclaimed, she had never seen bruising this bad.
After giving Vi a heads up, she gently felt the area of the bruising, checking Vi's ribs for anything that could have been broken. Her touch was warm and her hands were soft, which was something Vi hadn't felt in a long time, after spending years in prison, she hadn't even recieved a hug. Dina has been the first one to have given her physical attention since she was incarcerated, and even then, all she ever got was the occassional hug from Vander and her sister, Powder.
Once Dina was done inspecting the injury, she pulled Vi's shirt back down, startling her with her sudden movements and lack of warning, she apologised before standing up from the concrete slab.
"You're lucky, nothing is broken but your ribs are bruised, I think you should take it easy for a while"
Dina spoke as she walked over to her own bunk
"Can you stay with me?"
Vi asked, she was in a moment of vulnerability as thoughts of her sister and Vander came flooding back, she was hurting, both physically and mentally, and she trusted Dina.
"I don't want to risk hurting you even more, you should get some rest. It's not like I'm going anywhere any time soon"
Dina didn't want to turn down the opportunity to lay with Vi, but for Vi's sake, she had to.
Dina made her way back to her own bunk, taking off her boots and laying down. She pulled she paper thin sheets over her and sighed, she missed her old bed dearly, the thing that excited her the most about getting out of here was being able to sleep in a comfy bed again, although the hard surface was good for her back.
"Goodnight, Vi"
She said, looking at her cellmate to make sure she was okay before turning to face the wall.
"Goodnight, Dee"
She responded, hearing her nickname made Dina smile before she drifted in to the deep sleep that her body had craved.
