Chapter 16

As the corridor bustled with inmates who were ready to get their food, pushing past each other to be first in line, Vi and Dina waited. Vi was peeking through the jap in the door as it sat slightly ajar, while Dina stood next to her, clutching the pipe she had picked back up after their kiss had broken.
"Any minute now, go for the blonde guy, he'll be around my height and will be next to the one I grab"
Vi said, straightening her back to show Dina her height so she knew who she was looking for.

The height difference between them, Vi was just shorter than 6ft, which Dina seemed to find even more attractive. Dina nodded to show her understanding and Vi returned to how she was before, watching the corridors closely. It was busy so it would be easier to miss them and they'd get away, forcing them to make a new plan. But this wasn't Vi's first job so she knew what she was doing.
"There, let's go"
Vi said, quickly opening the door and rushing out with Dina in tow, Vi grabbed an inmate who was built like a brick, punching him in his jaw before dragging him the room. It took Dina a second to figure out who she was looking for, but when she saw a blonde guy panic at the sight of his cellmate getting attacked, she wasted no time kicking out his shin and grabbing the collar of his uniform, dragging him into the same room they were previously hiding in.

She closed the door, jamming it shut with a chair under the handle. When she turned around, Vi was already kicking lumps out of the man she had grabbed, the blonde guy was crying clearly not used to this kind of violence, but Violet didn't care as she landed punch after punch into his partner. Dina froze up for a second, regret coursing through her veins, until the blonde guy tried lunging for Vi. Before he even got the chance, a steel pipe collided with the side of his head, causing him to hit the floor hard. Dina stood over him, sending blows with the pipe into his side, before changing her aim to his face, entering some sort of protective rage when he saw him trying to attack Vi.

After sending a few solid blows into his face, she began hearing bones crack through his pained screams, this wasn't pleasant at all, but it had to be done. It was either her or him. Dina stopped attacking and dropped the bloody pipe when the guy had stopped screaming, he had passed out, laying in his own sweat and blood. She approached him, making sure she had broken his jaw, and she had absolutely shattered it, it didn't even look remotely in place like it was before.

After stepping back and taking a few deep breaths, Dina began to feel sick, until something shimmered against the dim light, catching her eye, a shiv laid out on the floor next to him. It occured to her that his aim when charging at Vi was to stab her, then suddenly, the sickness went away and she no longer felt guilty. Vi was okay and to Dina, that was all that mattered.
"Dee, let's get out of here"
Vi said, taking Dina's hand in her own bloodied one as they rushed out of the room, closing the door and walking with the other inmates to the refectory, pretending to look the part after participating in a brutal attack, Vi shoved her hands in her pockets, hiding the blood on her hands, while Dina simply walked with her head low, not proud of what had just happened.
