Chapter 28

After a well deserved night of relaxing and laying in each others' arms, Vi stirred out of her sleep. Dina was breathing silently, using Vi's arm as a pillow as they remained cuddling during their sleep. Vi slowly sat up, pulling her arm from under Dina slowly as she tried not to wake her up. Once free, she climbed to her feet and rubbed her face. All she could think about was that day, the way her brothers Mylo and Claggor were crushed, and way Vi's own body was trapped under a metal sheet, stopping her from helping her family. The way the flames consumed them after Vander helped Vi escaped wouldn't leave her head, and now her sister was gone too, all because she walked away.

Vi began breathing heavily, anger consuming her
"Silco..."
She muttered, balling her fists in anger.
"What?"
She heard a tired voice from behind her, when she turned around, Dina was slightly sat up, rubbing her eye as she woke up.
"What are you doing up?"
Vi asked, her attitude completely changed when she spoke, the anger she felt mere seconds ago had vanished and she was calm again, Dina had a massive effect on Vi and she wasn't sure how it was possible.
"It got cold, are you okay?"
She asked, slowly starting to get up.
"Yeah, I'm okay. Come on, let's go back to sleep"
Vi answered, getting back into bed and returning to the position they were in previously.
"Vi?"
Dina asked as Vi buried her head into the back of her lovers neck, she hummed in response, letting Dina know that she was listening.
"I love you..."
Dina admitted, those words made Vi's body stiffen and her heart race. She had never heard that before, and it sounded so genuine. Vi simply kissed the back of Dina's neck, unsure of how to respond.

After moments of silence, Vi figured that Dina had fallen asleep when her breathing pattern had shifted. Vi still didn't know how she was supposed to react to what Dina had said, so she didn't, she simply closed her eyes and let sleep take over.

The next mornig, when Dina woke, she could hear the sounds of Vi's grunting. When she turned to face the inside of the cell, she saw her pink-haired lover doing push ups. After seeing that Dina was now awake, she winked at her before lowering her body for another push up. Dina just laid back down by the edge of the bed and watched as her lover got her sweat on.

After a few minutes of admiring Vi do her thing, Dina sat up and shoved on her boots, ready for the cell doors to open so she could take a shower.
"Vi?"
Dina asked, making Vi stop what she was doing and sit on the floor, facing Dina.
"Yeah?"
Vi answered, wiping a layer of sweat from her forehead
"Who's Silco?"
She asked, Vi's entire expression changed instantly as she frowned
"You don't know who he is? I thought you were from the undercity?"
"I am, but I didn't really spend much time there, I just moved around on my own"
Dina admitted, Vi simply sighed, knowing that she'd have to tell Dina if she didn't want her to worry.
"He took everything from me. He killed Vander, who was like a father to me. Mylo and Claggor are dead, and I'm assuming that Powder is too, I was arrested before I got the chance to save her"
She explained before grunting
"It's my fault, I walked away when she needed me, I abandoned my own sister"
She said, her eyes turned glossy for a moment and she clenched her fists before taking a deep breath to calm herself.

Dina suddenly felt guilty for asking such a personal question
"I'm sorry, Vi"
Dina said, her lover simply shook her head in response
"Don't worry about it... I know your story, it's only fair"
She said, climbing to her feet on que with the sound of the cell doors opening in unison.
"Are you okay?"
Dina asked, standing up alongside Vi
"Of course"
She said, leaning in to kiss Dina before a hand against her chest stopped her in her tracks
"You're all sweaty"
Dina laughed, Vi simply rolled her eyes in response and grabbed her toiletry bag
"Fine, I'll go get cleaned up if that's what it takes to kiss you"
Vi smiled before walking out of the cell with Dina in tow, headed to get cleaned up before the day entered full swing.
