You were anointed
With honey and basil
Sage dripping down from your eyes
Anise stained breath
And a clove painted tongue
You stole the crispness from the skies
                              Hazel and almonds
Find a home on your crown
Their color coiling your hair
Coconut seeps in your skin
and your bones
Making them silky and fair
                              You trace your lips
On the cinnamon sticks
Chewing and sucking them dry
But little did you know
I was quietly peeking
Hoping you'd give me a try
