Skinned and loving it
I am split open on the ground
Like a high school science project pinned to the dissecting pan
Bright like strawberries in the summertime
Steaming scarlet in the crisp snow
Formaldehyde in my picnic basket as I lay unzipped on my gingham blanket
Unraveled, flayed, unapologetically unhingedI'm so ecstatic!
My ribbons and streamers are finally able to see the light of dayI'm relieved that I'm such a pretty color
Variations of Red and Pink
They remind me of all my favorite things:Rolling cherries around in my mouth
Glistening gums that frame my teeth
The glowing coil of my electric stove
Raspberry jam on my toast
The taste of iron on my lipsSo pretty
So pretty
So prettyI can hardly contain my excitement
