Esme

Milo's friend pulls up beside me, and rolls down his window. Going out on a limb, I roll mine down too, "So your Milo's friend?"

Saying it outloud really made me sound dumb, but the only reason I asked is because I want to hear his voice. I'm standing on what I said to Delilah, but he is fine, like no comparison. Even his car is nice.

"Yes, and what about it?" Now see, that right there makes me want to smack him. I roll my eyes while shaking my head, and roll up my window.

A tall skinny brunette haired girl walks around his car in almost nothing. She stands in front of our cars, raises the flag above her head, then bends down. A little too hard in my opinion.

Swerving lanes and keeping ahead of him is hard to say the least. Once I get onto the main road, people are driving so slow and beeping at me for going fast. A car turns in front of me and I go around him just in time. Someone else switches lanes without using their blinkers, pissed would be an understatement.

He's currently in the lead, and when I pass the halfway mark, I realize I don't have much time left. I'm going 110 MPH and he seems to be going 120 MPH. I haven't been this tense while racing since my first race. I'm used to having the upper hand, so this is tripping me out.

Switching into fifth gear, I step on the pedal a little harder to go 130 MPH. We're lined up, side to side, and in the blink of an eye, we're on the other side of the finish line.
…

A tie. I know bad eyesight is a global epidemic and these people are surely suffering from it. I close my car door, and walk over to Delilah.

"What the hell are they talking about? I don't tie with anyone, I win."

"Calm down, I recorded it." She turns her phone to me, and I watch both of our cars fly over the line at the same time. Damn it.

Making my way back over to Milo, I see his friend standing next to him, but I chose to ignore him. I already know he has a smart mouth, no need to give him permission to let more out.

"Milo, want to tell me why I'm tied to him?" I ask, pointing my finger at his friend. "Esme don't get mad at me, I fix up both of your cars." He shares, and all I can think is why the hell did he not say this before? But then I ask myself would it have made a difference?

"Remember when you asked whose Camaro that was sitting in my driveway a few months ago? Well it was his, but I never thought to tell you. Well until now. It doesn't make a difference." Milo reasons, and I agree.

Before I turn to his friend, I make sure my face is void of any emotion, since I wear my heart on my sleeve. "Esme, good driving out there." Before I get the chance to ask him of his, he beats me to it, "Silas."

He turns his attention to Delilah but she doesn't notice given that all of her attention is on her phone. She types rapidly, seeming very upset. I wonder who she's texting. I pinch her and she yelps in surprise.
