Esme

After tugging on my Air forces', Silas and I make our way down the stairs, only to stop when we see Theya and Sean swapping saliva.

Kids these days.

"Don't choke." I call out, announcing our presence, and they break apart from one another faster than lightning.

I pinch Silas's side when I hear him disguising his laughter as a cough, and his eyes shoot down to mine. He glares at me, but his playful spark tells me it's not serious.

"Mae, you're out of your room!" Theya exclaims, in attempt to take the attention off her, but I'm not letting it go.

"Actually, why are you out of your room?" I fake hurt with a hand over my heart, and she rolls her eyes at my dramatics.

"Silas is taking me somewhere, so if you want to know, ask him."

Where is my hoodie, I could have sworn I put it on the banister?

It's the end of September, and it gets chilly at night. I refuse to walk out of here without something besides my cami on.

"Where are you taking Esme?" Delilah asks, walking down the corridor from the kitchen.

As she nears, my words get stuck in my throat when I see how... Torn. Not so much on the outside, but definitely on the inside. An oversized black shirt and matching sweats adorn her body, and one of my eyebrows raise when I notice one of her hands rubbing her stomach in small circles.

Before I ask any questions, Milo and Genesis walk through the door.

"This is starting to feel like some twisted family reunion." I mutter while leaning back on what I thought was the wall separating the foyer from the living room, and unless walls have arms, I'll say I'm leaning on Silas.

Oops.

"Why is everyone here?" Silas chuckles to himself at my tone, and I won't lie and say it doesn't affect me.

Why does it feel like everything he does gives me fanny flutters?

"To answer your question, Theya, I'm kidnapping her." I pull myself out of his hold, and whip around to face him.

Is he serious?

Milo laughs until Genesis hits his chest, and he immediately sobers up. I turn around to look at him, and his arm falls down to his side.

My hand itches to put them back where it was, but then I remember what he just said.

"Uh, you're joking right?" Theya questions before I can. Her tone holds nothing but pure confusion.

Silas shoots her a dead look, "Joking."

Turning his attention back to me, Silas puts his large hand on the small of my back, and ushers me to the door. We slip past Milo and Gen, and she quickly presses a chaste kiss to my cheek.
