Lacuna (my missing part) in Latin
Esme Davis's fast life has become stagnant, or so she thinks. Until one fateful night she bumps into him. During the day she is a science major at UCLA, but at night, she is an underground street racer with an unbe...

Esme
"And how's she feeling?" I ask Theya, and the line goes quiet for a few beats.
Multiple cars behind me beep their horns, starling both me and a napping Genesis.
"Esme, I'm fine. Stop worrying, and haul your butt over here. The shower starts in fifteen." Delilah bursts in the conversation, and I roll my eyes at her unserious nature.
Who decides to still have their baby shower while one centimeter dilated? Delilah, that's who.
"Fine, I'm on my way. But please go to the hospital if you need to. Gen and I can deal with the guest." I tell her, and she hums unconvinced.
"Okay," Theya says. "hurry up." She quickly demands, then hangs up without properly saying goodbye.
"That little- whatever." I whisper to myself.
Genesis- now awake- moves to play around on the screen, and I smack her hands away. She sits back in her seat with a loud "hmph", but I ignore her.
"First you volunteer me to evacuate the guests from her party, and then you don't let me explore this car? Very rude, Esme, if I do say so myself." She lectures, and I shake my head at her fake hurt tone.
"I want Delilah to have the chance to explore her new car with no previous fingerprints on the screen."
Today, Genesis and I picked up Delilah's surprise push present from the eight of us. For months she's been talking about wanting an, "eco-friendly and responsible car". Silas recommended a Tesla, and she's been hell bent on it since.
During our group discussions about giving it to her, Milo came up with the bright idea to wrap it pink. Imagine my heartbreak when I realized ordering a Tesla to be built from the ground up took almost a year. When I informed everyone of this, Silas told me not to worry. Three months later- this morning- I got the call that her car was ready for pick up.
"By the way- I already said this to Milo- for my push present, just get me a card or something." I swallow down my annoyance with my sister in the name of peace, but I still did want to do something special for her. First she didn't want a shower, and now she doesn't want a gift.
I. GIVE. UP.
I have to slow down as we pass Dee's house. I barely recognized it with all the pink decorations. Gen tells me to park a little farther down the road so that she doesn't see the car before we want her to, but complains the entire walk back to the house.
"When we get in you can sit down and eat all you want." I tell her in an attempt to stop her fastly growing attitude, and she nods tiredly.
"I better."
Milo might be right about only having one kid, Genesis does not enjoy growing a human.
A fastly approaching Theya takes me from my thoughts, and I start to panic. "She's fine. I'm just so happy how everything turned out. Look." We walk through what was once Delilah's entrance and foyer- now... I don't even know.
