So many years
So many dark memories
So many fears
We've now put to ease~
I open my eyes slowly, smiling, feeling light as a balloon. I glance over seeing Rythian, I walk over. "Rythian....?" I say softly, he looks up at me.
"hey buddy..." He says softly, getting up. "I feel...free. Free of hell." I nod, Your free...she's waiting." He smiles, hugging me. "See you soon my friend." he says, holding onto a balloon, floating up.
~
Pain makes you do
Things you never knew you could do
Is this all real?
Or just déjà-vu...?~
I see a bright light of blue, making me rush over. "Lana!" I exclaim, "Hey madman..." I smile softly, helping her up, "Go." I say softly, she nods, tears in her eyes. I smile, wiping them, she too, grabs onto a balloon. Floating up.
I feel tears in my eyes, wiping them as I walk over to Lalna. "Hey son..." he looks over, looking for Alex and his girls. I sit down by him, holding him close.
"It's gonna be okay...they'll join you soon." He looks over me. "P-Promise?" he whispers. I nod, "Course...." He smiles, vanishing into air, floating up into the air. I wipe my eyes again, walking to Alex and the girls, who nod, floating up to meet Lalna.
~
But now the party's over
Now the guests are gone
It's already past our bedtime
It's already almost dawn~
I hug Nano, "Go...please...let go of it." she looks at me, "How can you forgive me? After all of I've done?" She whispers, "Because...I know how hurt being alone can be." I say, holding out her missing flower and putting it in her hair. "P-Please...before I start crying." She smiles, floating up with a ballon, surrounded by her flowers.
~
Just like balloons
We soar on our own
Finally free
From the pain of our home
And just like balloons
That no one will hold
Free from the truth
That no one will know~
I smile, patting Eleven's head, "She's waiting up there...for you." She nods, "I know...but I can't believe-"
"neither can I...but please go. I can't join you guys without doing my deed. And...and seeing if she is here." She nods, "Thank you Jones." She says, flying up.
I walk to Flora next, she looks at Alice's body, I sigh, holding her close as she starts crying. "I don't wanna die...I want Alice."
"I know I know. But she's waiting up there, with her sister, everyone" She smiles weakly, i wipe her tears. "be strong." She says, leaving my grasp.
~
Just little children
Not at all strange
Until the lights went out
And everything changed~
"Star..." She holds me close, crying. "I'm scared dad..." I sigh, "I know sweetie...It'll be okay, I'll find Matthew and Booker for you." I say softly, she nods, sniffing.
"What about-"
"P-Please...don't say her name...." She nods, slipping away from me. "I love you dad...I love you." I smile, kissing her head as she floats up. "I love you too my bright star.."
~
Alone and afraid
For oh so long
Wondering what did we do wrong?~
"Matthew!" I run over, seeing him shaking and holding staring at Booker.
"H-H-He lived..." He whispers, sobbing. "he lived..." I freeze, putting a hand on his shoulder, "He'll know where to go....he's a-a big boy...Star's waiting." he looks at me, tears streaming down his face. He grabs hold of a balloon, smiling and floating up.
~
'Cause now the party's over
And everyone is red
I feel sick to my stomach
Or am I sick in the head?~
"W-What's that sound Duncan?" I look to the sky, his eyes widening. "Run!" I yell, grabbing Star's hand and running back toward the house, we reach there just as it lands. Exploiding.
~
Just like balloons
We soar on our own
Finally free
From the pain of our home
And just like balloons
That no one will hold
Free from the truth
That no one will know~
All I remember is that Star's hand left mine, I remember a pain all to famliar, I remember fear in everyones eyes as the sound became deafing.
Then I saw her eyes. Her eyes were of acceptance. Almost like a free balloon, she accepted death.
I screamed her name as she became a blur.
~
All of the pain
Far in the past, yet
Echoes of screams
Forever will last~
"Duncan...?" I walk over, holding her close. "Don't scare me like that again please..." I hear her laugh weakly, I look at her. "Why'd you accept it?" I ask softly. She sighed.
"Because I know what death feels like...I was always so tired...but I knew I had to live. So when it happened..." she trails off. I smile, kissing her softly.
Just like balloons
We soar on our own
Finally free
From the pain of our home
And just like balloons
That no one will hold
Free from the truth
That no one knows~
I feel her kiss back, wrapping my arms around my neck, I bring her closer. I feel tears slip down our faces, I feel myself becoming lighter and lighter, we start dancing slightly, almost a ballroom dance, all so familar.
"I love you Duncan Jones."
"I love you too, Endress Enderborn."
"Together?" she nods as we vanish into the ather.
"Together. Like balloons..."
