Ch. 60

Joe.

When Lindsay got me to do those exercises and got some feeling in my legs I was ecstatic. I was losing hope, actually I had no hope because I knew people who were paralyzed & they  never got their feelings in their legs again. I think I’d be okay if I got some nerves back and not all.

My nurse Lindsay was a very beautiful nurse and a good one too. We have gotten to know each other while she was helping me with therapy or just helping me around the house. She’s a very sweet girl & she won’t let me give up.

Even though Chloe was excited that I got some nerves back, I could tell she wasn’t fond over Lindsay. I pretty much could tell she felt threatened around her. She pretty much wish it was a male nurse, but I wouldn’t be encourage if it was a man trying to help me improve. It’s just a man thing I guess.

Nick came over with Demi & Damon. I was excited to see my son. I have missed my son terribly.

“Never leave me again,daddy!” Damon gave me another hug, that sort of broke my heart. “I promise,bud. I’m not going no where.” I kissed his cheek. “Why is there a wheelchair,daddy?” he pointed to my wheelchair.

“Daddy is hurt..” I sighed.

“I thought you got bedder. Unca Nicky said you got bedder. Want me to kiss it to make it bedder?! Mommy gives me kisses when I hurt, it will make it bedder.” I chuckled at how cute he is.

He gave me a kiss on my nose and then on my cheek.

“Thanks buddy. Wanna take a spin with me on my wheelchair?” He nodded his head vigorously. I called over Lindsey and she helped me get to my wheelchair from the lawnchair.  

“Come here.” I pat my lap for Damon to climb on. Damon climbed onto my lap & he held onto the armrests as I wheeled myself around the yard. He seemed to enjoy it.

"Faster,daddy.” Damon giggled and I tried spinning the wheels faster.

Later, Damon got bored with me & went to be with the twins. I stayed in the backyard,drinking my beer.

“Hey, why are you still out here? It’s getting dark..” Nick closed the back door.

“I’ve been going out here a lot lately..to think..” I stared at the sunset’s reflection on the pool, “Beer?” I got out a cold one.

“Sure. Can never say no to a beer with my little brother.” he gave me this playful glare.

“Ha ha.” I handed him a beer. He opened it & took a big sip. “I have to ask.. What’s up with Chloe? She’s not acting like herself..” Nick pulled a chair beside me.

I shrugged my shoulders, “She’s been acting like that ever since Lindsey became my nurse.”

Nick let out a chuckle, “Chloe is jealous. Lindsey is beautiful. Chloe is feeling threatened.”

I glanced at him, “Chloe is not jealous. Chloe never gets jealous.” I chuckled with my bottle pressed against my lips. “Dude, all girls get jealous.” Nick rolled his eyes at me.

“Chloe got jealous of Demi in the beginning & she got jealous when she found out you got lunch with Cami. Do the fucking math,bro.”

“Why...She should know I love her..I didn’t vow to love Lindsey for sickness & for health.”

He let out a groan, “Some girls are jealous because they feel insecure about their bodies. Maybe a lack of trust?”

I scoffed, “I’ve been faithful. She has nothing to worry about, unless she’s with somebo-”
