I was driving us home,the car ride was silent,so I was driving,thinking about Nick and everything. I looked in the rearview mirror and Damon was looking out the window,”Daddy?” he then flashed his brown eyes on me,”Yes,buddy?”  I kept my eyes on the road. “Why do you have black eyes?”  he looked at me,”Um…”

Do you tell a two year old that you were jumped?

“Um...this bad guy...he hurt daddy...he punched my face and hurt my ribs.” I nodded,proud of myself. “Did you kill him,daddy?” he smiled,”Um...yeah sure..” I gave him a smiled,he started clapping,”Yay,go daddy!!” he giggled,I smiled,as I kept driving home.

I got out of the car and noticed Damon was asleep in the back,but I wasn’t sure if I could pick him up. I tried,I opened the car door and got him out of his carseat and carried him inside. I opened the door,”Hey babe.” Chloe smiled,she was starting to show her bump,it was very little though. I carried Damon to our bedroom. I laid him down,I kissed his forehead,I closed the door quietly,”I’ll sleep in the other room.” Chloe ran her fingers through my hair,”You sure?” I held her close,”Yeah,you sleep with Damon,I’ll be okay.” she kissed my cheek.

“I love you,Chloe...so much. Just know that.” I rubbed her back,”I love you too..I was so scared that I lost you.”  she sighed,”You won’t lose me. I promise.” I kissed her forehead,”Go get ready for bed,I need a drink of water.” I gave her a weak smile and headed to the kitchen. I sighed,drinking my glass of water. I kept thinking about the accident, I sighed as I put my glass down. I headed upstairs and headed for bed.

The next morning,I made Damon’s favorite. Chocolate chip pancakes,Chloe had gone to go shopping with some of her girlfriends. Damon and I colored our morning away. I got him dressed and ready for shopping,then I got in the shower real quick,then I slipped on dark jeans and a white shirt with black tennis shoes. I slipped on a blue and black jacket,”You ready to pick out your bed,buddy?” I held his hand,walking to my car. “I’m ready,daddy.” he smiled,I got him buckled into his carseat and tickled him.

He started screaming,”Daddy!” he said,laughing,”Okay,okay.” I kissed his forehead,I shut his door and got in my car,I headed to a good store for furniture. “So I can pick any bed,daddy?” he kicked his feet,”Any big boy,bed.” I nodded,”Okay!”

We got to the store and Damon got all excited,he kept picking out king beds,”Buddy.those are for grown up beds,let’s go to the kid aisle.” I took him to the kid part of the store,they had princess bed and everything,”Whoa,daddy look at this!!” Damon ran to a bed,I chased,”It’s a caw bed.” he smiled,he climbed on top of the car bed,it was red,it look like Disney’s Lightning McQueen. I looked at the front and it read,’Lightning McQueen’

“May I help you?..” a worker asked,”Damon,do you want this bed? Is this your bed?” I crossed my arms,”Yes,daddy! I love this bed!” he smiled,”How much is this bed?” I looked at her. “It’s $599.99. If you want a bunkie board,it’s $49.99.” she smiled,I bit my lip,”What’s a bunkie board?” I slipped my hands in my pocket,watching Damon,”It’s a board that goes under the mattress,it’s for beds that don’t have box springs.” she nodded. “What’s really cool is that..it has a hidden mattress for sleepovers.” she pulls out a drawer under the bed,”Daddy!!! You can sleep with me!!” Damon smiled big making the woman laugh.

“But if you want the bedroom set,it’s $1,149.99,plus the bunkie board,it’s $49.99.”

“I always have a matching set of the drawers and mirrors,the same color. So I’ll get the bed.” I nodded,”Could it be shipped today,or could I just buy it and put it together?” I ran my hand through my hair,”I would recommend shipping it..since I noticed your bad condition..”
