Ch. 56

Chloe.

I was excited for Joe to come home. I missed him terribly and the twins acted like they knew their dad was gone. I was also ready for my mom to go back home,because she’s been getting on my nerves,since she kept complaining that Joe isn’t a good father. She said dad would have never left her for a tour if she just had babies. I just rolled my eyes and went on, my mom and I were different people. I wanted what was best for Joe and I wanted him happy.

I just fed Annistyn and got her to sleep again, I walked out and saw the downstairs light on, I sighed and headed downstairs to turn it off,but then I saw my mo, in the recliner,rocking Serenity.  I jumped because she scared me, “Mom! What are you doing up? It’s 2 in the morning.”

“I was just here thinking…” she sighed, I flopped down on the couch, “What?”

She looked at Serenity,then looked at me, “Joe says he loves you,but he’s not here taking care of his children with you.” I rolled my eyes, “And he didn’t answer my call.”

“It’s 2 in the morning, of course he wouldn’t answer! The only one awake is you! I’ve had it,mom! I thought you loved Joe! I’m sorry he’s not like dad,mom!” I was aggravated at her and I was also tired. “But I’m in love with him, mom and I just want him to be happy. Give him a break!” I headed to the kitchen to get some water before bed.

My phone started ringing, “That’s probably him asking me why my mother woke him up!” I snatched my phone off the table, it was an unknown caller, it wasn’t Joe. I started to think,maybe Joe’s phone is dead so he calling from someone elses’ phone.

I decided to answer, “Hello?”

“Hello, this is Nick’s bus driver, Sam. We need here in the San Francisco Hospital. There has been a wreck.” without saying a word,he hung up. I started to panic. I dialled Joe first, now my mom was watching me,worrying. He didn’t answer.

“Dammit,Joe!” I hung up and called Demi next,her phone went straight to voicemail. “No..no..” I then called Nick, no answer either.  I was getting more worried, “Chloe,what’s wrong?”

I grabbed my jacket and threw it on, I didn’t care that I was still in my pjs. “Their bus had a wreck and none of them are….answering...I’m going to pick up Denise and Jules...and we’re going to San Francisco..can you please watch the twins for me?” I was trying to be strong.

“Yes...yeah..of course honey. I hope everything is okay.” she got up and hugged me, I pulled away, “I..I have to go.” I grabbed my keys, “Be careful..I don’t want you getting hurt either.”  I nodded and headed out, I got in my car and started driving to Denise’s.  I called her on the way.

“Chloe..it’s 2 in the morning..” she sounded like she just woke up, “It’s an emergency..Nick’s bus driver called me...there has been a wreck and they’re at the hospital..I’m on my way to your house to pick you up.”

“Oh my god! Thank you for telling me,Chloe. I’m up.” I heard her shuffling, “Okay,it’s a 5 hour drive to San Fransisco,so maybe you can sleep on the way there.”

“I can’t sleep knowing my sons could be hurt.” I pulled in her driveway, “I’m here.” She hung up and rushing ran out and got in my car, “I’m glad you changed..I’m still in my pajamas. We’re picking up Jules next..can you call her?” I started my way to Jules’ house.

She called Jules on the way and we finally got her and headed our way to San Fran.

“Have you tried calling them?” Jules looked out the windows at the stars, “Nick and Joe didn’t answer and Demi’s phone went straight to voicemail.”
