Ch. 31

Demi/Dee POV

Nick told me that he would ride to the restaurant with Joe, so I was picking Chloe up for our dinner that night. We were meeting the guys at 8. She got in the car & was practically panting.

"Thanks for picking me up. Sorry you had to wait. My pants are getting tighter, so it takes me longer to find something to wear." Chloe laughed as she put her seat belt on.

I laughed, too. "No problem. I completely get it. I remember those days."

"I'm gonna get so big. Did Joe tell you we're having twins?" Chloe asked once I started driving.

"What? Oh my God. No. That's so cool. How did he take it?" I asked, chuckling.

"He was in shock a little. But I think he's fine now." Chloe talked a little more about the things Joe talked about earlier & then about Damon & Joe as we made our way to the restaurant.

"He's an amazing dad." I said at some point as I drove.

"He is. And you two are amazing parents. I mean you are cool with each other & you're like friends. I think that's very mature of you both." Chloe was smiling when I glanced at her.

"I always wanted Damon to have a dad & now he does & I have to remember that I have to run stuff by Joe now, but he's a great guy, Chloe. You're a lucky girl. I consider him my friend now & I am grateful he is so laid back. He's like Nick in that way." I laughed. "That's about the only thing they have in common besides how they look."

"So they don't kiss alike?" Chloe asked, then laughed.

I shook my head. "Oh God, no. I barely remember Joe's kiss, but I know it wasn't like Nick's." I pulled into a parking spot & Chloe & I got out & started walking into the restaurant.

"So why do you say Joe's kiss wasn't like Nick's?" Chloe asked as we walked to our table.

I sat down at the table across from Chloe & chuckled. "Nick's kiss made me weak in the knees the moment his lips were on mine. Like the first time he kissed me it was just a soft sweet kiss, but it like literally curled my toes." I started fanning myself & Chloe laughed & nodded like she knew what I was talking about. "I lost my train of thought & was totally flustered after it. Then when he kissed me for the first time for real... like with real passion... holy Mother Mary of God, I lost all control of my body." I laughed again, opening my menu. "Joe's kiss was sweet & I felt something, but it wasn't anything compared to Nick's kiss. Joe was good, don't get me wrong, well you know that already." I chuckled, now nervous & breathed a sigh of relief when Chloe nodded. "But you know when you kiss the one... you know like the one you are meant to be with... it's like so much better?"

"Yes. I felt that way when Joe kissed me for the first time. It was like fireworks & butterflies... the whole enchilada." Chloe laughed.

"I guess we are some lucky girls." I smiled, then scanned my menu. "I'm glad we're doing this. The four of us together is a lot of fun. Vegas was a blast." Chloe looked up & smiled, nodding in agreement. "You need to tell me about the honeymoon."

"Wouldn't that be weird to hear about your ex's honeymoon?"

"I don't want like sex details. I mean you did other stuff right?" I was laughing almost hysterically now. Chloe & I talked for a bit longer, her telling me all about the stuff they did on their honeymoon. At a quarter after eight, I looked at my watch. "The guys are late. Maybe we should call them."

"Good idea. I'm starving." Chloe picked up her phone & called Joe. She hung up, quickly. "It went to voicemail pretty quick. Maybe he's trying to call me."
