Nick POV
"Babe? You about ready? We gotta be at the airport in like an hour." I shouted up the stairs to Dee. We were leaving for Vegas for the weekend, to witness Chloe & Joe get married. They weren't getting married until tomorrow night, on Saturday, so that evening when we arrived, we were going to all go to dinner & maybe do some gambling. Saturday, the four of us were going to enjoy one of the Vegas attractions before the big nuptials.
"I'm coming." Dee yelled as she came down the stairs, carrying her suitcase. I climbed a few stairs to grab her bag for her.
"I'm glad I had Joe drop Damon off at my parents. We never would have had time." I said.
"What are you trying to say?" Dee raised her eyebrows at me.
"That you worked this morning, so now you're rushed. But you look radiant & you are worth the wait." I grinned.
Dee smirked at me. "It was so awesome of your parents to offer to take Damon this weekend. I hope he's not too much trouble."
"Baby, he's their grandson. They love him & were so excited having him for a whole weekend." I put her bag by the door, then grabbed my jacket & backpack.
"I've never been away from him this long before." Dee whined a little.
I sighed, then kissed her cheek. "You deserve some time to yourself ya know? You are allowed to have fun."
"I know. I'm gonna try." She kissed me real quick before we headed out to the cab waiting at the curb.
Joe & Chloe were sitting across the aisle from us on the plane ride to Vegas. As Dee & I sat in our seats, watching the clouds out the window of the plane, I leaned to whisper in her ear, "Are you a member of the mile high club?"
She gasped, quietly, looking around as if she were embarrassed that someone might have heard me. "Nick." She hissed, then giggled. "We're not doing that." She sat back in her seat as I chuckled beside her. I started reading my iPad. After a few minutes, she leaned closer to me. "Are you?" She asked.
I glanced at her, quickly, trying not to smile too big. "Yea." I answered.
Dee clicked her tongue. "Why am I not surprised? So you fucked someone in one of these tiny little bathrooms?" She nodded toward the bathrooms.
"Not really. It was a private plane." I looked at my iPad to avoid her eyes.
"So you brought one of your bed buddies on a private plane? Well, that doesn't sound like you." Dee seemed annoyed.
"It wasn't a bed buddy. She was a colleague." I told her, not looking into her eyes.
"A colleague?" She whispered. "Oh my God, was it a female fighter?"
I nodded, finally looking up at her. "Yes, we were both single & enjoyed each other's company to relieve ourselves of the tension that built up after a fight." I let out a laugh.
"Good to know." Dee said, leaning her head back on the seat & biting the inside of her mouth. "Which fighter was it? What's her name?"
"That's not important." I answered, getting a cold stare in return.
"Did it just happen once?" She asked, casually.
I shrugged, then shook my head. "No, it happened a few times over the year we traveled together."
"So it was an ongoing thing?" She asked & I nodded like it was no big deal. "Did you have feelings for her?"
I rolled my eyes & let out a chuckle. "None other than her being my friend & colleague. Can we drop this now?"
