Charlotte-

The last day of the summer holidays arrived faster than I excepted. That morning, everyone's Hogwarts letters had come, and with them, big news: Ron and Hermione had been made Prefects. Mrs. Weasley, of course, insisted on throwing a party to celebrate that night.

"I think a toast is in order," Mr. Weasley said warmly, beaming at his son.

"To Ron and Hermione, our new prefects."

Tonks raised her glass with a grin. "I was never a prefect myself. My Head of House said I lacked certain necessary qualities,"

We reached for plates of food, "Like what?" Ginny asked.

"Like the ability to behave myself." Tonks said cheerfully. Ginny and I both laughed.

"What about you lot?" I asked, Sirius and Peter. They shook their heads, Peter's long hair swaying so much it almost touched his food.

"I would never have been considered," Peter said, tying his hair back. "They knew James would abuse the power and award Gryffindor a million points."

"That's not true!" Dad protested, his friends exchanged looks, making Dad squirm in his chair.

"Okay, maybe a little true." James admitted with a shrug.

"No one would've made me a prefect either," Sirius added, "Too many detentions with James. Lupin was the good boy-he got the badge." He pointed at Remus with his fork.

Remus laughed, "I think Dumbledore hoped I might exert some control over my friends. I need hardly say I failed."

"So you never got it either, James?" Tonks asked.

Dad's smirk, the proudness radiating off his body. "No, I did. Got my badge in sixth year, became Head boy in seventh. That's when Lily fell madly in love with me." He said, through a mouthful of food.

"That's not how it happened," Mum said dryly.

"That's how I remember it."

Mum turned to dad's three friends, narrowing her eyes at them. "Do you three remember it that way?"

A chorus of, "No," "Not exactly," and "Ha! No," answered her.

Dad scowled. "As my best friends, you should have said yes!"

They only shrugged.

"Doesn't matter. I won you over in the end." Dad said, his hand wrapped around the edge of Mum's chair, he pulled it closer and kissed her.

"Ew, Dad!" I groaned, covering my eyes.

"Tell me when it's over." Harry added, pulling off his glasses dramatically.

The next morning was chaotic, after endless shouting from Mrs. Weasley, we barley made it to King's cross on time. Remus and Moody said their goodbyes once we were safely through the barrier.

"Remember to write," Mum told Harry, "And try to stay out of trouble this year."

"I never get in trouble...on purpose." Harry said with a shrug. Dad chuckled behind him while Mum just shook her head.

As she began her inevitable lecture, I let my eyes wander around the platform--and spotted him. Draco Malfoy, standing stiffly while his mother fussed with his tie, and his father whispering something in his ear. Draco looked thoroughly bored as his gaze drifted around the station, before his eyes finally landed on me. His whole face brightened with a smile.

I could faintly hear my father muttering something under his breath. "You've got to be kidding me,"

"Charlotte, let's get on the train." He said,
