CHAPTER SIXTEEN i love you. jk.
"Hwa Young," Renjun called out his fiancée's name as the two of them finally entered his penthouse. It was barely past midnight, and as anyone with two eyes could guess, Hwa Young was plagued with eggnog and a little extra alcoholic cider.
The woman stumbled into the man's entrance hallway, kicking off her heels and slipping off her festive santa hat, that had somehow found its way on her head throughout their partying night.
Renjun watched helplessly as she crashed into one of the walls of the corridor, leaning against it for support. "Hwa Young," He called again, walking up to her sluggish frame.
His hands instinctively found her waist to steady her clumsiness, however the Kwon was quick to slap them away. "That's not my name," She grunted whilst slowly pushing herself off the wall to stand on her own two feet.
With not much else to do, her fiancée decided to entertain her drunk antics. So he asked, "What is your name then?"
"Sweetheart," She glanced at him with a sultry look over her shoulder, one of her brows dancing up and down.
The night was too humorous to not laugh at. But nonetheless, Renjun pursed his lips into a smile. "Okay, fine," He mused before calling out her requested name. "Sweetheart,"
"Yes?" Hwa Young answered in a slur, turning on her heels at a rapid speed to stand at attention. She playfully raised one of her hands to her forehead like a salute, and finally earned a chuckle from her future husband.
Hoping that this would a good time to practice actually saying this to her face, Renjun leaned down to her eye level. His lips curved up into a boyish grin and his dark orbs pooled into her hazy ones. "I still love you," He whispered, with a tinge of excitement lacing his tone.
A flurry of butterflies erupted at his stomach, and they caused a surge of adrenaline to wash over his body.
The Huang didn't understand why that simple sentence gave him such a high, but perhaps it was because it felt good to let something that heavy off his chest.
It was pain for him to keep it in the past few weeks.
Saying them was like taking a burden off his shoulders.
Hwa Young smiled a love-sick grin, before commenting cutely in a raised voice. "That's fun," She cooed, booping his noise.
Her mouth parted for a second time, presumably to comment once more however, instead of words, Renjun regrettably watched as leftover dinner and eggnog fell.
His enthusiasm on his face immediately dropped into a deadpanned frown. "And you're still very drunk," He sighed tiredly. Cautiously the male stepped around the puke, and began walking to his kitchen for cleaning supplies— a very sluggish Hwa Young on his tail.
The pair entered the large room, and instantly in the dark, Renjun found the light switch. He flicked it up, causing Hwa Young to groan at the sudden light.
As the drunk woman blinked her eyes furiously, adjusting to the bright environment, her fiancée had already found a few things to clean up her mess.
He closed the kitchen cabinets and turned on his heel to return to the hallway, though one major obstacle stood in his way— a very flirty Kwon Hwa Young.
Without wasting another second, she flung herself onto the male, her arms find their way around his neck.
"Will you remember this?" He grunted, avoiding her nearing face that fought to face him directly.
Like an eager child, she shook her head. "Not one bit, so kiss me," Hwa Young exclaimed, puckering her lips humorously.
Skillfully, Renjun ducked and maneuvered his head to avoid every attempt. In frustration, the Kwon whined as she continued to try. "I'd rather do that when you're sober and actually want me," He grumbled, as he tried to pry her off of him.
"I'm giving you my consent," She countered back.
Having given up at removing her, Renjun ended up having the woman stand on his feet. And with one hand carrying his cleaning supplies and the other held around her waist for balance, he walked slowly out of the kitchen. "You're drunk, it doesn't count," He argued, Hwa Young still evidently clinging onto him.
"Kiss me!"
"No,"
After a few more seconds of more back and forth arguing, the two had finally made it back into the dim corridor. Finally, Hwa Young had given up trying to kiss the male and walked off his feet. "Renjun doesn't love me," She pouted childishly— walking away with her back turned.
Renjun felt like both his mind and heart would explode any second. It was becoming too much to bare to the point he felt exasperated. "Oh my god, did you not listen to me like a minute ago?" He laughed, mocking their situation and how he was the unfortunate sober victim.
Ignoring his question, Hwa Young began another conversation. "When was your apartment so warm?" She complained dramatically, fanning herself with her hands.
Briefly, Renjun glanced to his home's thermostat. "You can change the— what are you doing?"
Right before him, Hwa Young began to pull off her dress, leaving her body in only her undergarments. Respectfully, Renjun hissed and turned away. He focused his eyes only on the puke that was still piled on his entrance's floor.
"Can you not do that?" He muttered grumpily, though his voice became a background noise to Hwa Young as she began to skip elsewhere.
