CHAPTER THIRTY-SIX
the beginning of the night.

"Thank you for doing this for me,"  Hwa Young thanked her fiancée as he slid into the front driver seat, a tired smile lacing on his lips. "It means a lot to me,"

"Of course," He replied, starting up the engine. They had just finished saying goodbye to Chaeran and Beomgyu, and were now on their way home. Renjun pulled out of their driveway and made it onto the main road. "I love your parents, it's fine,"

She slid down into his leather seats, her head still turned to his direction. "I know it can feel suffocating at times,"

He stilled. His palms ached as it tightened around the steering wheel.

"Do," He hesitated. Renjun glanced to the side, briefly making eye contact with her before returning his vision to the deserted night road. "Do you feel suffocated?"

"No! I mean, no, but I just hope you don't feel like it especially when they were asking all those questions," She rushed out. "You're not overwhelmed?"

"No, never." He reaffirmed, turning up the radio to a low hum— a random love song emerging from the middle console. "I think you've done enough, take a nap and i'll wake you up at home,"

She began to sit up, stubborn to do as she was told. "Are you sure? I can stay awake—" However, as quick as she did, Renjun put a free hand to her shoulders and pushed her back.

"It's okay, doll, get some shut-eye," He reassured her, flashing her a quick grin. And before Hwa Young knew it, her eyelids had fell heavy and her breaths became light.

Renjun glanced at her, eyes softening at her sleeping figure— cuddled up on the leather seat. "Sweet dreams, Angel,"

. . .

Fluttering open her eyes, Hwa Young had awoken just in time as Renjun pulled into their front driveway. The engine's rumble dulled into a silence, and the their surroundings were barely illuminated by their home's outdoor light.

Mindlessly, her fiancée reached over her body and unbuckled her seat belt for her. "Thanks," She muttered quietly, to which he bummed with a soft smile.

"Come on, sleepy head. We gotta put you to bed," He spoke as he slipped out of the drivers seat and traveled the distance around the car, to open her door.

He offered her a hand and helped her to her feet, where she had slightly wobbled from the exhaustion of the day.

"But, I'm not tired anymore," She lied, linked arms with Renjun as they traveled to their front door. "What about we do something?" She typed in the code to their home, and quickly opened with a single hand.

They reached the front hallway, where their shoes came off and stood to the wall, and the immediate homely feeling had suddenly reenergized them. Though, Renjun wasn't at all tired, and tomorrow he was set for a day off, he didn't understand why his fiancée wanted to stay up. "What are we gonna do at 10 pm?"

"Uh?" The ravenette pursed her lips as their bare feet padded against the wooden floors of their home, wandering down the hall to their unfurnished living room.

Renjun followed her at her tail, appearing as a lost puppy as he mindlessly listened to her ponder aloud.

"Maybe, hmm, we should—" Her brain went back and forth between various ideas. Hwa Young truthfully didn't understand her own self at that moment. All she knew was that, she wanted to be with him right now, and laying next to him as they slept on an air mattress wouldn't satisfy her.

Her figure stopped between the open kitchen and living room, frozen to the very soles of her feet. The young woman finally stumbled upon a grand idea to get closer to Renjun, yet the last time didn't go very well— which made her nervous for all reasons necessary.

Renjun gazed at her attentively, watching as how the moonlight from the wide glass frames poured into their home and delicately pooled onto her milky complexion. It illuminated her endearing thinking face, catching every small detail to the quirk of a brow to the scrunching of her nose.

He still didn't understand why she chose to stay up with him than to sleep, but he sure didn't want to do the latter as well.

Her left hand reached up to her hair line and softly ran her slender fingers through her now-straight locks. She was thinking deeply.

With the bright light of the moon, he saw through the dim lighting of the room that her cheeks had gone the shade of a tomato, and her knuckles had tightened into fists.

"Hwa Young?" Renjun stepped closer, to her side. It was where he could see her side profile, but not enough to see her front entirely well.

His left hand twitched at his side, a unruly and uncooperative hair falling to the front of her face. He lifted his arm to brush back the lock, however, he was startled when Hwa Young grasped his hand in both of hers.

She turned to face him, a new nervous, and anxious glint in her hazel orbs. She was unsure if this was a good idea, but nonetheless despite the little angel on her right shoulder, she wanted to do it.

"Do you wanna," Renjun's eyes fell to her lips, that had smudged off of any lipstick from the prior dinner, than to her fluttering lashes that looked up at him so innocently that he felt his jaw become hard with grit. She looked like an innocent bunny, and the male felt overly guilty for gazing at her so intently, as if he was a sly fox. But her next words, for sure, brought him out of his reverie. "Do you wanna have a drink with me?"

His heart wanted to burst out of his chest, his cheeks flaring with the same shade as hers.

For a moment, he said nothing, and thought nothing, except how this was an invitation to him to get closer with Hwa Young once more.

Perhaps it was already the half glass of wine that he drank in courtesy with his in-laws, or the way she looked absolutely gorgeous under the moonlight, or maybe it was both and he was drunk on her, but his lips formed a grin that he never imagine he could ever smile.

But with her, anything was possible.

"I would do anything with you, angel," He placed a kiss to her forehead, right above the space between her eyebrows. Her eyes fluttered closed in content, and Renjun reeled back. "Even if you asked me to watch paint dry,"
