CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO conversations in the dark
Settled atop Renjun's large bed, the pair laid side-by-side, their eyes fixated on the ceiling above through the dim lighting of his bedroom. It had been a good 10 minutes of the pair just laying in silence, in which the male didn't want to speak first and allow his fiancée to finally come clean.
But, he should've known as the time began to pass, that Hwa Young was never one to take the initiative of such a conversation.
It was amazing that she hadn't run away yet.
"Why are you so nervous for me to meet your parents? Last time, I checked, they were my in-laws," The raven-haired male chuckled dryly. He turned his head to the left, his cheek pressed against the mattress— allowing him to trace his chocolate orbs over every detail of her side profile.
He observed the way how her eyes fluttered closed with her lashes, as she took in a large heaping of air through her nose. It was as if she was bracing herself for her next words, which wasn't too far from the reality.
Fluttering her eyelids up, her orbs reunited with the tall ceilings of the Huang Penthouse.
And for a moment, she realized the space she was in. Laying on the same bed of her high school best friend that she hadn't seen in 10 long years, about to talk about what mommy and daddy issues keep haunting her with anxiety.
It was laughable, and that's what Hwa Young did.
Renjun saw her slightly chapped lips part, his anticipation peaking at the various possibilities that could spill from her mouth. However, the exact opposite of what he was expecting had happened. Instead of rambling on, or just speaking a few words, the woman laughed.
