- Chapter 36 - The amount of times I've wanted to write "Quips and Ships" as a chapter title is sad lol -
Warnings: None really, mentions of flinching and yelling, but it's all really fluffy lol
Third Person POVJesse was sat in the car with Emilio and Mr. Miller. "First understudy rehearsal," he grinned at Emilio in the mirror, "you excited?"
Emilio beamed, looking at him. "Pretty excited, semi nervous," he answered.
Jesse chuckled. "Normal."
Mr. Miller looked at Emilio in the rearview mirror. "Don't be nervous, you're going to be great," he assured him.
"That's easy for you to say," Emilio responded, "you're my..." he hesitated, "parental figure. You have to say that."
"Not true." Mr. Milled chuckled. "I could be mean to you. Would you like me to be mean?" he asked.
Emilio shook his head vigorously.
Jesse looked at his father. "I'd rather you didn't as well," he voiced.
Mr. Miller chuckled, turning the wheel as he pulled into the parking lot of the theater. "I wasn't going to go through with it," he responded.
Jesse nodded.
"Alright," Mr. Miller turned to face Jesse. "You're only here because you're my son," he told him. "Don't do anything that'll be distracting. You'll sit in the audience."
Jesse nodded, knowing full well that a good amount of the other cast members were also coming to watch.
The three of them got out of the car and walked into the theater.
Mr. Johnson was waiting for them on the stage, looking exasperated.
Jesse immediately found about half of the cast in the audience.
Most of the cast members waved when they saw him.
Emilio blinked. "Che cosa nel nome di Joseph Pu-" he mumbled.
Mr. Miller looked out in the audience. He sighed deeply. "You're all aware that this is a understudy/swing rehearsal only?" he asked.
Multiple people in the audience nodded.
"Yep."
"We got it."
"Fully aware."
Mr. Johnson sighed deeply. "Then why are you all here?" he asked them.
"Moral support," Gabriel answered with a grin as Jesse sat down next to him.
"We wanted to support our cast mates and be able to watch for fun," Kyler explained.
"And we couldn't leave Jesse to be here all by himself," Aliyah with a teasing grin as she gripped his chin and turned his face towards the group.
"See! Look at him!"
"Who could ever leave him by himself?"
Jesse rolled his eyes and pulled away. "My parents," he muttered to himself.
Aliyah looked at him, a bit confused. She shrugged it off and turned back to Mr. Miller.
Mr. Miller shot them a stern look. "Why actually are all of you here?" he asked.
Caden shrugged. "It was either come here with Aiden or go to Jaden's practice, so..." he trailed off.
Understanding, Mr. Miller nodded.
"We hang around Mary all the time," Josh informed Mr. Miller, gesturing to him and Rowan.
"I walked Aurora here and will walk her back to her house after," Reagan informed Mr. Miller, leaning back in her seat.
